I like this game because I get to hate everyone I play with! Heh, seriously, if you don't have friends who play videogames, how is any competitive online experience fun? People act like HoN is in an unusual place because of an unfriendly online community... really? UNFRIENDLY PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET!?!?
My advice, if you are looking for an internet creeper to hold your hands when you play video games, I hear there's a sweet Care Bears MMO coming out.
I put down MMO's for a while. I played WoW pretty seriously for a while, but clearing the most recent content (25 ToGC) was literally a chore. The amount of sleep I missed every night because of my commitments to the guild and repetitiveness of re-clearing the same content over and over again sucked all of the fun out of the game. It also tore our guild apart socially and made it a much less fun group of people to spend my evenings with. I tried a couple of the new, popular MMO's that came out, but levelling characters in them felt more like a chore than a game (Aion and Fallen Earth).
That being said, I am looking forward to SW:TOR, Global Agenda, and Secret World. Playing an MMO with friends after work is one of my favorite ways to relax, so hopefully one of these games provides the gameplay necessary to hold my attention. In the meantime, I have been playing in the Heroes of Newerth beta. It's a lot of fun.
Seriously? For those geared raiders who are farming this place for shards, they WORKED for their gear. They didn't have an easymode heroic and a ridiculous badge system to waltz right into Ulduar like you'll have. I really have no problems with people who are dedicated and level headed gearing up for end game in just a few weeks, but I wish their was a system for keeping those epics out of the hands of cry babies like you.
I'm with you on that. It would be awesome to see major areas that have been affected/devastated by the armies of Arthas, maybe even as an event that drops shortly before the patch. I haven't seen the whole Coliseum encounter yet, but it doesn't seem like an appropriate teaser for the most important content of this expansion.
