Developers are just really losing it. They just think its simpler to make an FPS so it can sell better. plus they want to put it on console so of course strategy is a no-no, and of course it'll have some BS multiplayer.
i don't think its peaked. its probably that all of the recent ones were set in Liberty City plus people want a new full GTA. They can keep this series going as long as they do the great job on each game they've made.
