What if I was reading to see if this game was worth playing? If it was, then maybe I would've had the interest to go back and play the first two before the game in question. (Which I did).

It wouldn't matter if it were randomly thrown into some other topic, but why even bring it up in a review of the sequel?

That's like if I spoiled Bioshock while reviewing Bioshock 2, just because I figured that the reader HAD to have already played the first to be even remotely interested in the second. Would you say that that's fair?

What if I ruined the ending to Star Wars Episode V just because I assumed you had seen it, while reviewing Star Was Episode VI?


God of War isn't exactly like Macbeth or the Godfather; it's not so driven into our culture that spoilers and parody is common fodder in shows and movies. Therefore you can't just assume that someone has seen/played what you're talking about, otherwise you may ruin a great experience for them.
