DocuPen X hits earth for all your pen scanner needs

Nov 8th 2009 9:23AM (Engadget)
As a grad student, let me assure you that these devices are 100% useful. I would previously be reading books and have to either stop mid-page to type in a long quote to reference later, or have to post-it flag the page for later. By the end of a book, I'd have (in some cases) hundreds of notes to type in. Tedious. With these devices, I can just highlight and go. Keep em in a word document, and while I still have to organize them when I'm done, now I no longer have to type them in. Huge time-saver, and far more comfortable than when I was constantly shuffling between keyboard and book.

Fallout sale to help fund Earthworm Jim, Descent comebacks

Stealing this new found idea, Atari need only use its 10 million new found investor dollars towards a sequal to "Combat". In other news, Nintendo has decided to port Mario Bros. to its only un-tapped market, the 4 slot toaster. Many have derided this idea, claiming this 4 slot toaster is in fact two 2-slot toasters ducttaped together.

Blow up U.S. tanker in Iranian game

As opposed to America's Army, which is a raucaus good game, encouraging your time to be spent assisting all peoples in the world in building a ugalitarian society of love and abundance....(make sure you read that a second time, only with 3x more sarcasm)

Why is it news when a different country with whom we are far from friendly publishes a game where they shoot at us? We do it constantly...

A decade of Nintendo 64

Sep 29th 2006 2:33AM (Joystiq)
Well most all of you have mentioned the great classics, I find the one element you all fail to mention to tbe the 64's greatest strength: Multiplayer.

Imagine if you will, playing Goldeneye, Smash Bros or Perfect Dark 2 players...Yea, it would be fun, yeah it would pass the time...but it would definetly NOT be the hours, upon hours, upon days, upon sick-days of outrageous 4 player fun we all remember.

I spent at least 2 years of my life after school playing goldeneye with my brother and neighbors, and while other games and systems were fun, none other could allow me that pleasure...

All hail 4 controller ports.

TGS undermonetized, but so what?

Sep 24th 2006 1:40PM (Joystiq)
Nintendo doesn't appear at TGS simply for monetary reasons...It is quite expensive to attend these massive gaming fares, with booths, setup, advertising etc...Hence nintendo has historicly skipped this one in order to concentrate on their own events, which they feel better showcase their titles in a more cost effective way.

U.S. Nintendo presser somewhat-liveblogging [update 8]

Sep 14th 2006 10:32AM (Joystiq)
It's already been said, but I will say it anyway, the controller is wireless, and has both memory and a speaker built in, so it is obviously more expensive then all previous 1st party controller designs...Considering all wirless controllers to date seem to be right around 50, it really should surprise us it is that high (though I admit I did feel pain upon reading it)

Also, though initially it seems to be a given we need the numchuck, maybe a year from now a different attachment is king, so it really does make sense to sell them seperate....

myTunes now myFairTunes6, tons of features added

Sep 13th 2006 3:09PM (Engadget)
I can say I would enjoy software like this, I used to pirate music, then one day my conciense got the best of me and I decided to start buying it all again....

Now, iTunes is very easy, very convienent, and it is quite a bit cheaper if you don't care to buy entire cd's. However, I am now looking to buy a cheap mp3 player for my walking/biking commute, and it rather irritates me the cheapest screen-using mp3 player I can buy from mac is about 200 dollars...ouch...This leaves me to either get music a more-annoying way, or rip the DRM in order to get a much cheaper MP3 player that still has a screen (or just stuff it and buy a iShuffle)

And thats the best legal use of it I guess....those of us that enjoy iTunes, but can't afford/don't want and iPod...

Kutaragi admits "decline" in Sony's hardware capabilities

Sep 11th 2006 3:53PM (Joystiq)
Why are people using Sony "Selling out the first shipment" as some form of prize?

400,000 US PS3's....400,000...think past that sounding like a really big number, that number is actually very, very, very small for a launch of the size Sony needs.

To put this in perspective look at Japanese sales numbers, (American sales would of course be more relavent, but they are too hard to come by :)
http://www.n-sider.com/newsview.php?type=story&storyid=1135

For 1 (ONE) week, in the middle of august (not the holiday's) Nintendo sold 103,000 DS's, and Sony sold 35000 PS2s...

Now, imagine how incredibly rediculously horrible the ps3 would have to suck in order to NOT sell 400,000 PS3's...

Sony should have had Millions on launch, and sold each and every one.

That said, is it truly sony's fault? No, not entirely. THey do not possess the factory's that produce the diode causing the shortage. Surely, some company somewhere is kicking itself three different ways for not producing enough of the things. But I am sure that Sony could also have done a better job getting them.

So yea...I am done...but selling out on launch day is not to be considered "good" for sony, as they are simply launching an abismally low amount of PS3's...

Business 2.0: N-Gage failed the "Sky Mall" test

I believe when they said "Until 2007" they meant that an "N-gage 2" is in the works, and is likely to come out in 2007....They weren't making a swipe at a rival company...
