I love how they don't give a reason why we can't pre-purchase it on Steam when April 10th comes, but then they say it might be there at launch.
I am really excited for GW2, but ArenaNet/NCsoft's marketing/business side is terrible. If they honestly expect people to buy the game twice, it really shows their incompetence at how to actually give us options at how to buy the game.
@Vidikron Except they are. This will only give PC users more watered down games since they have to be made on a console which has restrictions, unlike a PC. So yes, they are targeting us indirectly.
@tendoboy1984 The future? You mean how consoles currently are? Having to build a game around the specs of a box. This is why there is a divide between PC and console. I see Steam trying to fix that, but it won't happen. PC users enjoy the freedom they have not being restrained by a box with limitations. This will only drive the divide harder and make people more bitter.
Its a shame that Nintendo is too ignorant on certain games cause its not kid friendly enough. Is that company rolling in so much cash that they can be this selective? I would think anything that could bolster 3DS sales would be a welcome thing.
This would be nice to see on the Vita though. I don't see Sony denying this cause they simply don't agree with the theme or violence.
Team Meat deserve all the sales and attention they can get so they can keep making amazing games.
@Wackydavo Except the whole part about Origin scanning your computer without you knowing nor permission. Sure, it adding games you already is nice, but at what cost? Whats to stop it at games? Who knows what else it scans on your comp to get information from you.
@mrantimatter Quite the contrary. The majority of the games going F2P is a last ditch effort to make a final push for money and to save the game. Problem with P2P games is they don't provide enough content fast enough to justify a monthly fee.
The only game who does it right for the most part is SE. Its sad though that their game(s) are either old or bad, but they pump out the content quite often.
I don't see how WoW still has 10M+ subs though. A content patch every 3-6 months is insane and such a scam.
@gordeaux He was making a joke since the ESA supported SOPA/PIPA which HEAVILY infringed upon our first amendment rights and now they turn around and say something like this. Such hypocrisy.
I don't know if this is a good decision on their part. Unless on the cover it says the game is F2P, and buying the box isn't needed, this almost smells of a scam to me. I know its not, but people out there will buy this thinking it could possibly be a P2P game, load it up, and find out they could just download and play for free.
Don't see the point in doing this for a F2P game. A retail game card of some sort would have done better, problem is people know what game cards are for. A retail game has the promise of a new game, when in fact, its not.
