Err, people? IGN contacted Sony and it was confirmed that this was legit, they said it had something to do with the "real God of War fans" and the original title.
Just because there are a bunch of serious war games already doesn't mean that making two annoying and absolutely unfunny characters, who are supposed to be funny, is a good idea.
Man this sucks, it's like a marketing team took a great looking game and decided the flavor of next-gen would be "action, but with humour!". They did the same for Army of Two and I don't like it. We're not in 1994 here. It ruins the seriousness the two games could have. I wouldn't watch a movie like this because I would find the characters too annoying; same thing in a game. I want them to shut up or be "cool", not dumbasses.
They try to give personality to their characters but all they can do to make them stand out is make living caricatures out of them.
Why can't we have characters like Tyler Durden, John McClane, Bill from Kill Bill, Lee Van Cleef or Eli Wallach. Why must characters in videogames be so fucking terrible?
No, gamespot has it wrong. Ubisoft will pay everything except the government gives 8 million (CAD).
Also, who said they have to BUILD the studio? And of course don't expect a movie this year. Also, they won't just be making Assassin, but content that isn't necessarily related to their games, or content such as TV shows with advertisement (no cost for downloading it). Anyway, it's good news.
PA have been using a lame tactic to promote their game and protect it from bad reviews.
They started to use their popularity to throw the idea around that IGN and the likes rarely give low scores to games from big time developers. The fact is most game reviews out there are on average quite accurate, their whole "reviewers get paid to give an 8 to a game that deserves a 5!" is bull. They are doing this because they want to protect their game from the impact of a potential low score from big sites (whom in turn are less likely than fanboys to give the game a high rating just because it's PA).
Since their views on IGN, 1Up, Gamespot, etc., have been widely publicized on their own website they are effectively going to pass the blame of a low review score on the above sites' supposed "vengeance" on PA.
Maybe it will be good, maybe not, but PA is definitely attacking those websites for this reason alone. Oh and the title of the game is rather terrible (at least if they plan to market it outside of their bubble).
Pachter is a LIAR. He knows nothings, he makes baseless and to a certain extent dangerous statement (as dangerous as if someone to a blind man he could cross the street when the light is still red). The statements he made on Bully were so unbelievable and yet had such strong repercussions, you're dam right he had better say he's sorry. No props for him too, this is the millionth time he says bullshit throughout the industry, causing investors to sell stocks over his ridiculous claims.
Just type his name on google and you'll find out just how much he is full of it.
