Target 360: Clever marketing or sign of the apocalypse?

Sep 4th 2006 2:13PM (Joystiq)
when the quadrants turn red, it doesn't necessarily mean the console is dead. for example, all 4 of them being on at the same time can mean that there's no video cables attached to it. that would likely be the case in a photo shoot, and unless the photographer knew how it was normally, he'd never know the red wasn't right.

Top 10 games of 1988

probably worth noting that, at least according to Wikipedia, most people reading this blog probably didn't play SMB3 until 1990 or 1991, as it wasn't released in the US and Europe until those years...

No official Oblivion expansions planned

should they even bother with all the people still buying their somewhat pricy addons? i imagine they can make a lot more money that way, than with one reasonably sized expansion pack.

PS2 memory cards need adaptor for PS3

correct me if i'm wrong, and i'm sure you will, but the guitar hero guitar plugs in as a normal PS2 controller, right? and there are no normal PS2 controller ports on the PS3, right? now assuming i'm right, up to this point, Guitar Hero isn't going to be played on the PS3 without some sort of additional adapter.

Emergence Day emerges as *gasp* Nov. 12

3. "most anticipated game of 2006"? That's odd. I thought that was Zelda. Maybe they should have said "most anticipated shooter of 2006."

i used to anticipate that game before it got delayed so much. i'd honestly forgot it was getting released this year until you brought it up, and was more looking forward to the DS version.

Blue Dragon, could it save Japan?

Aug 3rd 2006 5:31AM (Joystiq Xbox)
wow that totally just ripped off half of my response, and i don't have it anymore :( oh well. i think it was because i used a less than symbol to say "less than 2GB", and it thought it was an html tag.

the basic idea was that MS should not allow Canesta to dictate what's available for XBLA in Japan, and to allow larger games since all 360s there have harddrives. seriously, do they have any mahjong games on XBLA? what about Strip Mahjong Alpha EX 4?

they should have a team in Japan actively scouting smaller devs, and evaluating titles for XBLA in Japan. they shouldn't just be waiting for people to approach them, since it seems the only folks MS is going after are the big guns there. that way, they're going to miss a lot of stuff, that's going to go to Sony or Nintendo first, whereas it could've appeard on XBLA with little loss to them.

perhaps they should start a studio in japan and find their own new star devs for quirky games, because they're not likely to get them by just raking in Capcom, Konami, and Square. i think some of the DS titles have sold almost as well, and maybe even better than, some of the Final Fantasy games there. "More Brain Age" has sold 2.8 million copies alone...

Blue Dragon, could it save Japan?

Aug 3rd 2006 5:14AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Blue Dragon has been repeatedly listed in the Most Wanted games from Famitsu, and i believe just after E3, Halo 3 was in there, and was the only Western Game to have made the list in a long while.

i think some people misinterpretted some of my comments. i wasn't hitting nails into coffins, as i think MS still has a decent chance and i just chuckle when others say it's dead. i just think there's some things MS needs to change.

the first is i think they need to allow 2d games to be published on the system, and they need to allow japanese management to select games for the Japanese arcade. i think they also need to allow smaller developers to digitally distribute their smaller works (
