This is one of those rare moments in time where you see a highly successful enterprise voluntarily screwing themselves in the ass. The motive behind the move isn't apparent to me, but this is the one thing this game will not and can not recover from.

There is a gnome priest in the town inside Gnomeregan. He's called a medic or something, but he has himself buffed with fortitude and is constantly casting healing spells.
