I've actually been playing The White Wolf of Icicle Creek to review on my website, and as my first Nancy Drew title I've been very impressed (and surprised) by how good it is. Sure, it's obviously low budget, but it's a solid adventure game with a good mystery, and a difficulty level that seems to be just right for the demographic.

If there ever is a clearly gay male protagonist in a game, I sincerely hope he is from Kentucky. It may just be the fatigue from working 1 billion days in a row talking, but imagining that line in a game manual was the best laugh I've had all year (literally).

It's most definitely not a typo, I confirmed it with a Nintendo rep myself. Nintendo always said that VC prices would "start at" the prices we're used to seeing, and R-Type is the first to step outside of that price structure. Personally, I think it's Nintendo's way of testing the waters with TG-16 releases, after the phenomenal sales others on the system have seen.

I took the bait and stopped by EB around 7:45am, arriving in time to be #2 in line. Although the manager there wasn't talking, a person in my line talking with a friend at another EB across town confirmed that they would get a measly 11 units at launch. The store I was at is actually smaller, so it may be even less there. That's pretty scary when compared to the Xbox 360's 23 units at launch locally.

As far as the next-gen wars are concerned, it's the same song and dance we've been dealing with since the days of SNES vs. Genesis. Fanboys on both sides vehemently defending one system or the other, either because they can't afford them all or simply need something to do between the latest big budget "new greatest game ever" releases.

Blu-Ray may be the "official" reason for the delay, but I'm inclined to think that Sony didn't mind it too much given the high manufacturing costs of all the system's innards. Surely those have come down some by now, and will continue to do so as more units roll off the production lines.

Does this movie strike anyone else as fake (or at least leaked before it was finished)? The fact number is wrong; fact #3 was actually "Bunnies Can't Play With Fireworks" (see http://www.vggen.com/news/news.php?id=1599). Also, the plunger looks like a placeholder, and the quality of the video in general just screams unfinished to me (that could partially be due to YouTube though). And, Ubisoft hasn't sent out a press release about it like they have with the others.

Not that it isn't funny...
