As an American, Im utterly embarrased by the degree of ignorance on display here in the comments made by other Americans. First of all, Id be hard pressed to call shoulder pads and helmets "state of the art body armor." Second of all, soccer is not a third world sport. Anyone who disagreed need only take a look at the coverage of the current League of Champions. From the state of the art stadiums that rival anything the US has to offer to the television presentation of the games and the amount of money being poured into the sport by all sorts of corporate sponsors, Soccer is THE worlds premier sport. Soccer fans in Europe aren't missing anything that US sports fans have. Believe me American football fans, soccer fans are not jealous of you or your sport. And for the guy who said that American football is catching on in Europe, you need to pull your head out of your ass holmes. NFL Europe just folded because football was just getting too damn popular in Europe right? I think you're just drinking the NFL kool-aid that was served a few weeks ago when the Dolphins played in London. You know what sport is taking off in Europe? Basketball or Baloncesto as they call it. You know what else is taking off the Euro. You know what's not? The American dollar. All of you American snobs talking down about Europe would do well to pay a visit to any of the more advanced EU nations. You'd be surprised as to just who is ahead of who. That said, I love the US but it makes me sad that the US is no longer the badass superpower who is light yeras ahead of the rest of the world.
Oh and by the way, European women are just as hot if not hotter thanAmerican women.
I'm utterly shocked that it took 32 comments before someone caught on the the fact that Joystiq pretty much just said the Wii is not part of the next generation.
@ Copa I had the same problem with my replacement 360. My original 360 was manufactured on 01/03/06. Those jerks at customer support were unwilling to cut me any slack so I had to pay $139 plus about $25 in packing materials and shipping. The refurb started showing signs of problems on the 2nd may. MS graciously offered to fix it or replace it. So big of them considering I had paid them $139 to fix it just a week earlier. I would have to once again cover the packing and shipping costs. Instead of going thru all that bullshit again so they could send me a unit that would probably conk out again in 4 months, I decided to go to Target and buy a new 360. I switched the refurb for the new one and took it back to Target. After a little hassle, they took it back and gave me a refund.
So now the refurb 360 that they have registered to me with be returned to them as a new defective system. Hope that doesn't somehow affect my refund check but I just wasn't gonna let MS get over on me like that after so many years of loyalty and $139.
I don't know how they got away so long with only a 3 month warranty on a $400 dollar product warranty. Especially when its so well know that more than just a few 360's were defective. Most of the major big box retailers offer a 90 day return/exchange policy with receipt. So essentially MS was getting away with offering no warranty. Glad they finally came correct.
if anyone is looking for a wii, you might want to try Blockbuster/GameRush stores on Thurs and Fri morning. Thats when they receive their shipments. I understand they receive about 7 or 8 units per shipment.
Ive had problems with my PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360 twice( I paid Microsoft $139 plus packing and shipping fees to replace my malfunctioning 360 with a slightly less frequently malfunctioning 360.) I also had problems with a 3 week old Panasonic plasma. All had to go back to the repair center.
