An apology, and a note on hype
Sep 8th 2006 10:50AM (Joystiq)If you honestly thought that the announcement was being overhyped you would've posted another story, or an update to the tease, saying "Don't get too excited, this isn't a Wii launch date and isn't anything groundbreaking, it's just an interesting announcement which is not what you're hoping for - don't believe the hype". THAT is what a responsible site would have done, but instead you were looking for page impressions and ad revenue.
This was a pathetic attention whore move on your part and now you're trying to make it look like an accident.

Sep 8th 2006 12:05AM (Joystiq)BIG ANNOUNCEMENT tonight at midnight!
...time passes...
A video game shipped last week! WOO HOO!
Seriously, this is not big news, this is not worth a tease, and this was in no way an "exclusive". You guys are horrible.
Major next-gen console news coming tonight [update 1]
Sep 7th 2006 4:44PM (Joystiq)is the link you were looking for by the way. But I find that info a bit suspect since the blog links to another site which then links back here to Joystiq. I have no doubt that there's some Xbox news coming up, and the teaser of "something for nothing" leads to the free-Gold-XBL that some had rumored, but I'm skeptical
The "upcoming console" is what gets me from Kotaku, which leads me to believe there's 2 separate events - one an Xbox announcement, and another the Wii tech specs.
Bottom line, I just trust Kotaku more than a random blog.

Sep 7th 2006 4:30PM (Joystiq)Technical specs for the Wii.
Facts:
(a) It was released to many news organizations
(b) "upcoming" console, per Kotaku, rules out X360
(c) "wee bit" quote from Kotaku
(d) "While I'm sure you will all find it endlessly fascinating, in the end it really won't get you any closer to the news most people want to know." - most people want to know launch/pricing for Wii
It's the technical specs for the Wii. Pricing and launch details released next week at their simulcast event.

Sep 7th 2006 3:38PM (Joystiq)Can you tell us if this is a true "leak" of information from your source (i.e. something the public shouldn't know about tonight) or if it's just getting "insider" information early which you can't release?
In other words, is this something that a reasonable amount of people will know by the end of tomorrow even if you hadn't given us the information at midnight?

Eh, doesn't matter. I'll see it on Kotaku before Joystiq posts it anyways.

Sep 4th 2006 1:22AM (Joystiq)Crikey, look what we got 'ere! It's the rarely seen Sony fanboy! I hope we can get a closer look at 'im before 'e gits called home by his muthah. Notice the misspellings and lack of proper capitalization. Also the rationalization of 'is intent to 'ave 'is parents buy 'im the PS3 on eBay for much more than it's worth! This is a real treat!
