Gamestop, EB Wii preorders starting this week?
Oct 10th 2006 4:14PM (Joystiq)CD-ROM: 1x = 150 KB/s
DVD-ROM: 1x = 1.32MB/s
BD-ROM: 1x = 4.5MB/s
Do the math. Stating that the load times will be high because of "slow" 2x BD-ROM drives is stupid. Learn how optical media works before you make yourself look like a fool.
With all that said.. PS3 is gonna suck, just you wait. Only what... 5 weeks left before every Sony fanboy goes nuts with how awesome the PS3 is.. only to play Wii at their friend's house and having 10x more fun. ZOMG 10x! That fun is too slow! .. ha.. M$ fanboys, I filled in your line already d=

Oct 10th 2006 12:15PM (Joystiq)Metareview - Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (PS2)
Oct 10th 2006 11:54AM (Joystiq)Okay, here you go:
I pre-ordered the game paid in full two months ago, but didn't get it until 3 days after it came out due to some shipping error, my local EB (which I used to work for) didn't get them in time. Anyway...
Pros:
-Includes original Arcade mode, with wireless multi-card play.
-New "Revolutionized" Bubble Bobble gameplay is great. The new features including the Charge Bubble add a new level of strategy to the game.
-Lengthy gameplay & great replayability.
-Multiplayer is just like the good old days.
-Other new powerups add whole new ways to play, the Ghost Bubble is pretty sweet.
Cons:
-Multi-card play instead of single-card download play.
-Difficult Single-player mode, since there are the same amount of baddies, and bosses take same amount of hits.
-$60 for two completely different Bubble Bobble games with multiplayer = disappointing, but not terribly so.
-Wifi woulda OWNED th is game left and right.
Logitech's G11 gaming keyboard reviewed
Oct 4th 2006 4:28PM (Engadget)MicroCenter/BestBuy/CompUSA should have them in soon, as they carry the G15. Personally, I like ergonomic/wave keyboards, since I started using one about 6 years ago, and I started training myself to use a straight one ~1 year ago, with the Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 (it's only kinda curved) so I can get used to a lappy straight keyboard. However, the G15 (and thus, G11) is a rather impressive keyboard, except for one tiny thing...
The "rubber" that surrounds it.. feels strange. Especially after washing your hands (with soap). It has a "suck the moisture from your skin" feel. That's the main reason I didn't buy it, it was uncomfortable to use. But I used to play with it all the time when I worked at MicroCenter.

Oct 4th 2006 4:23PM (Joystiq Nintendo)The correct translation is "The hardware is based on the GC [architecture]" much like todays awesome dual core/quad core Intel cpus are "based on the x86 architecture."
Also note that they can get away with low numbers because of the efficiency and high data throughput as opposed to pure speed take this analogy:
You're moving cross-state. Let's say 100 miles. Do you wanna move all your stuff load by load with your 5 speed Corvette? Or are you gonna get a big truck to put it all in and move it in one trip?
Wii "hardware is basically a GC," says Miyamoto [update 1]
Oct 4th 2006 3:39PM (Joystiq)Isn't Sony the one changing from normal DVD to Blu-Ray and charging a "ridiculous(ly) high premium" for it? Funny thing is, that is ALL that they are changing, the format on which we play games, not the method of how we play them.
