DANCE! Online being racist? Nah, just using workaround

Wow...

He definitely could have worded that defense better. Like, "More pigment = more $$$. It's only logical" or "He's *black*? Oh, wow, I'm so socially advanced I hadn't even noticed!"

Halo 3 beta date confirmed for May 16

@36 ...*sigh*

Internal testing will be significantly different than the external, mass scale testing that Bungie is doing in May over Xbox Live.

First of all, it would be *impossible* to do what is typically done with most Betas because it would be impossible to enforce an NDA over so many practically anonymous people. Secondly, it's really a matter of *what* they're testing to determine *how* they test it. This is likely a benefit for Bungie because they get to distribute the build to a large mass of people for zero cost to them and increase the rate at which they narrow down bugs X-fold. On top of that, there will be a lot of P2P testing that will let Bungie know how they matchmaking need be tuned to allow for more lag-less hosting selections and disperse connection issues.

They may also be testing how ranked match data comes in to their servers, and they need plenty of volunteer players to help them do that.

I don't know what you're whining about.

Halo 3 beta date confirmed for May 16

I wish the bubble shield looked more like the one in the CGI ad, which spikes into the ground, and less like something that rolls along side of you.

I can see them being very annoying, as well as the trip mines, but they'll be a lot more fun than annoying should they be as rare of a spawn as a rocket launcher or sniper rifle on the map.

Fun stuff, though. No real complaints.

Living Game Worlds III: Playing with Controversy: The Case of Super Columbine Massacre

Hey, we're on Joystiq... Go Jackets!

The reality of the matter is that people will find the game apalling because they think they're supposed to. It's a form of media no different (okay, well, slightly different) than a documentary about the tragedy that doesn't censor itself, nor does it hold back from viewing the consequences of their actions.

People associate the term 'video game' with the gamut of Mario to GTA, when this form of interactive media could be useful for so many other purposes than raw entertainment.

The Xbox 360 Elite is official, HDMI and 120GB for $479

Underwhelming >.<

It's what I get for hyping myself up. I hope tomorrows megaton isn't 'news' from months ago too...

No fault of Joystiq's, though. This falls on Microsoft's shoulders.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma > Ninja Gaiden, true or false?

Mar 26th 2007 7:13PM (Joystiq)
@13

It's probably because we've already played Ninja Gaiden, twice, a while back, and DMC4 is coming out for both 360 and PS3 simultaneously.

Personally I don't know why anyone cares at all about losing exclusives... I'm just happy that I get to play DMC4 and Assassin's Creed, just as happy as I would be had they never been said to be exclusive in the first place.

I admit that it's pretty, though. I'm not surprised, but I do see pretty ninja action, and I hope the PS3 owners enjoy it as much as we did.

2D Ocarina of Time creator dies in car accident [update 1]

@David

He was born in '91 according to that entire forum thread dedicated to the announcement of his death. I'm not entirely sure where the military bit in this Joystiq article comes from.

2D Ocarina of Time creator dies in car accident [update 1]

Mar 25th 2007 9:51AM (Joystiq)
The project won't be continued, though I'm sure a similar one may come about in time.

It really is sad, though, especially since he was so young. 15 or 16 I believe. He wasn't in the car, either. A car, that wasn't speeding, swirved on wet road and knocked him unconscious while he was walking. An accident, in every respect of the word, but that only makes it more sad when nobody's to blame.

Apparently his last words to be remembered by were 'I love you' to his girlfriend. At least he could go out like that.

RIP, Dampe' -- I didn't know you at all, but I hope you rest well.

'This is Living' toilet girl helps flush PAL PS3 sales

I was werided out by that crying baby ad, but after some time, I started feeling disappointed if I was out of the room and heard it on, but didn't get to see it.

I don't want a PS3, but the ads worked at least on some level it seems.

Xbox 360's Red Ring of Death visits Weekly Geek Show

I've had mine since launch, but my friend has gone through 3. I love my 360, but if I were in his shoes, I would have given up by now and just put down for a PS3, or at least some more RAM and a better GPU.
