Yes on #6. I've been playing around with an Android phone recently, and it supported YouTube captioning out of the box. And it's not just an accessibility issue for deaf and hard-of-hearing folks anymore; an increasing number of videos are starting to use YouTube captions for foreign-language subtitles too.

+1 on custom SMS tones. When everyone's phone in the room is going off with the Tritone sound because there aren't any others that are halfway bearable? Yeah, something is wrong.

Interestingly enough, what bugs me about this isn't that Apple is charging for Xcode-- it's the fact that, for non-subscribing developers, there's no way to download it *except* for the App Store.

Better have some way to access a good stable connection on your App Store-enabled computer to download the *4.2 gigabyte* installer, because there's no way to download it from someone else's machine and stick it on a thumb drive.

Clarification - it doesn't just add HTML tags, it also adds some hidden text that's styled using CSS so as to be invisible. Or would be, if it weren't, y'know, inside a textarea so the HTML part was ignored.

I'm really not surprised at this at all-- the Skype browser plugin is truly a mess of bugs. It attempts to put HTML tags around anything that looks like a phone number... even if it's *inside a textarea tag*, which clearly should not allow HTML tags within it.

Suffice it to say, this wreaks havoc on any wiki page that happens to mention a phone number whenever someone with the plugin edits it...

Just a minor observation - I couldn't get this to play using the arrow keys on my MacBook, as it says to use in the instructions. Using A, D, and Space works, though.

Yes, I know it seems ironic, but bear with me...

There are several apps out there where you can make a phone call via a transcriptionist who will transcribe what's being said. (Hamilton Captel and ClearCaptions are two of them.) It's actually a very useful thing, and much easier to deal with (at least in my opinion as someone with hearing difficulties... and usually in the opinion of the call recipient, too, for that matter!) to a traditional relay call.

The problem, of course, is that it requires being able to have voice and data at the same time, so the transcript can reach you while the call is in place.

And they only added those to the iPhone 4. We 3GS users didn't get them, despite having hardware that's perfectly capable of a few extra sounds!
