I have one question, that may have already been asked:
How many of these systems are the core package and how many are the premium package?
If I preodered a PS3 and was stuck with only taking the core version I would be upset. This applies to people that would actually play it. Otherwise, for Ebay, its just as good.
Our Ebay in Gainesville, VA had 16 systems for the 30 in line.
All this talk about what the Wii should cost is foolish. Oh noes, it's a souped up Gamcube! How dare they! It should be free!
It seems that people are forgetting a small thing called DEVELOPMENT COST. It happens for every system and you are charged for it on every system. Nintendo has pumped millions of dollars into building the machine in ways such as developing a new controller, a new architecture and processing unit. They have spent five years on building a new machine, which is more than the "new gen" machines that are just graphical upgrades.
Get over yourselves. $250 is affordable for a truly next gen machine and when people buy them at launch they will be proving this.
I can't believe it! Sony has taken the three dimensional world and added three new dimensions! Six axes? And this whole time I've been living in only three dimensions? I fear that I haven't really been living! Only Sony has the power to double the amount of dimensions I thought we lived in!
Seriously, how stupid could this name be? "Oh, the z-axis, y-axis and x-axis just won't cut it for naming this sweet controller. Let's make sure that we use the NEGATIVE z-axis, y-axis and x-axis for the name too. Then it will be unstoppable! HA HA HA!"
Considering the fact that no matter how you orient position on an axis system, you still end up with three axes for three dimensional space, this name just reeks of consumer trickery. "Oh, but mommy it has six axes instead of three! That's three new axes!" But why stop there? A Playstation UberPowerful1000XPtotheInfinityPower sounds so much cooler than the measly PS3.
I thought that the BioShock trailer was just ok. ALthough the graphics are great, I'm just not sold on the game. It looks really boring. After watching the 15 minutes of director commentary I was actually less interested in teh game. There are all of these claims that it is revolutionary, and I suppose it is if you count taking out all of the action and just walking around. I never saw one aspect that made me say "now that's a great concept". Maybe there is more to the game and if so , the trailer didn't do it any justice.
Being a teacher, I am very limited in the amount of time I have to play. However, I have this weird tendancy to keep buying games even though I have a stack of 30+ unbeaten games. I walk into a used game store and just can't pass up those quality titles at less than $20. I have a long line of games that I haven't even begun to play but I find myself playing through Wind Waker a second time.
The simulated aspect of DPLII is coreect but it does make use of only two stero speakers. If you have the correct stereo it will decode the two analog inputs into output from a 5.1 speaker set up.
I think that this was a mistake for Nintendo. I love my Gamecube and Pro Logic was fine for the system but an upgrade to digital 5.1 would have been a better choice for the Wii considering the fact that Nintendo is trying to really push immersive gameplay. That being said, at least there is a decent alternative in DPLII
