IGN layoffs hit all divisions of media giant

Mar 18th 2010 5:18AM (Joystiq)
I would go with staff firings everywhere.. my company lost roughly 2000 people last year, of which I merely skidded by, and am extremely grateful.. This year is the year of management.. 1000 more cuts by the end of the year with us... just rediculous. And what happens? All the work goes to Manila, or somewhere in India like our company is doing.. rush training, no tolerance, and paying people less than 1/4 what they pay us here, while workin in much poorer conditions with no benefits.. It's heartless out there man. My company makes billions off of Canadian consumers, yet they don't have the heart to keep canadian workers employed.

I would name mine "The Alexander" after my soon to be born son :D

If a Genesis and a Wii had a baby, it would be Sega Zone

The sad truth of this is, some poor kid is gonna get this for his birthday or xmas, because he really wanted a Wii, but his cheap Dad thought it would be the same thing, and "why would I pay more money for the same thing?".

You all know it's gonna happen.

Talent, not just tax breaks, drawing devs to Canada

Tim Horton's is garbage. Tim Hortons in our major cities are like crashing pads for homeless people. Good luck finding someone at Timmies that speaks english too... if you speak Tagalog you might get coffee that does'nt taste like it's been mixed with tea.

I grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and currently live in Northern Alberta where it can get to -50c at times.. and I can honestly say, the wintertime on the east coast feels a lot colder than our coldest days here, solely because of the coast imo. I have friends in New York and although I never visited myself in the winter, I assume it can get pretty damn cold.

As for "Canadian Bacon"... I actually never heard a Canadian call it that. It's ham. I've only ever heard Americans call it that, and I dont exactly know why.

Our beer is damn good, but not all of it. Alexander Keith's is the best beer in the country imo. Just like anywhere else, the big brands like Molson Canadian, Labbat Blue, Kokanee and all that shite, just suck. I agree with the guy above, the microbreweries are where it's at.

Healthcare is a touchy subject for a lot of people. Healthcare in Canada also greatly varies depending on what province/city you are in.. this is something I realized after moving around the country a lot. Alberta imo is in shambles. Mostly just because of doctor availability, and quality care. It has been pretty poor from my experiences, although nothing like the stories I hear from my US friends. In Edmonton it's just more of a challenge to find a smart competant, compassionate Family Doctor, or any Family Doctor taking new patients for that matter. Sure specialists are everywhere, but try finding a good GP.

I've never really experienced much anamosity towards Americans here, other than whenever Bush comes to gives speeches *cough*cashgrabs*cough. Canadians generally know more about American politics than our own politics... mostly because our leaders are douchebag idiots.

Jackie Chan as Chun-Li, E. Honda in Street Fighter II spoof

After seeing his costume in the original drunken master with the red nose and straw hair... I dont think he would mind dressing up as anything. Haha.

"back to when he was a lesser star in Hong Kong cinema"

umm... Jackie Chan was famous in HK and China ever since he started making movies in the 70's. By the time 1993 came around he was already a Superstar over there. I might add he was always a turd too.. and we only knew him to be a turd when he started making turd encrusted movies like Rumble in the Bronx.
