May I recommend the Pico series from Super Talent... specifically the Pico_C. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=250356 I have the 8GB Pico_C, it's super tiny, stays connected to my keychain, and I haven't lost it yet :)
already checked EB... they don't have it in over here, yet. They said it was supposed to arrive later in the afternoon. I prepaid and then I checked Circuit City's flyer, they have it for $27 ($10 less than EB!) but they're not sellin till Tuesday... I think I'll just get mine today :P
Ok, im just impressed at how quickly they come up with a petition for the masses to sign and try and persuade a name change! "Wii" came out on the 27th, and almost immediately after, so did the website in post 150! (http://wiihatethename.com) They're even selling bumper stickers and t-shirts! simply amazing...
yea, the images do look nice, but i'll wait for the gameplay and storyline. But now I have to rant.. I totally agree with 7, 10, and 14... I glanced over the image and thought "ooo.. pretty".. and then I saw the girl standing next to the guys and thought "ooo yea, this is gonna be lame". Honestly, how can game developers expect us to take their games seriously when you see a female character wearing little more than some underwear and a smile while the guys seem like they have more armor than a tank? Didn't anyone who was working on the game at some point just step back, take a good look at what they created, and think, "Oh my god, this is totally absurd!"?? .... this game has totally lost so much credibility in my eyes.
I followed the link to the original site but was unable to download the zip so I searched elsewhere for it and sure enough, several places had it (just search for kkrieger-beta.zip in Google). I ran the exe straight from the zip file and it took ~30 sec. to load (if you can stand HL2 or Doom3, you can manage this!) It goes through a little intro stuff and then you start the game. I'm not sure why everyone else is having so many problems running the game, maybe I'm just lucky (I have an ATI 9700 Pro and A64 3000+, running XP SP2).
The game itself is pretty simple, you start off with a simple gun, you shoot little crab things before they come too close. You pick up bigger guns and ammo, shoot some "bosses" and keep going. The actual game play sound effects (running, shooting) seem like they're ripped out of an early Doom game, but the background music was high quality standard techno fare, appropriate for any modern FPS, that just looped over.
Unfortunately, I never got to the end of the level, I got caught due to bad collision detection and eventually I would just get stuck whereever I was and would not be able to move very much. But if I had read the readme a little more carefully, there seems to be some spawn points you can respawn at if you get stuck, so I’ll have to try that.
In any case, I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with what I saw. After playing so many other games with impressive textures and sceneries, I've become very accustomed to dedicating large amounts of hard drive space to see some pretty environments. But I saw plenty of well defined tile, wood and other textured surfaces, reasonably good lighting and reflection effects, and as I mentioned, I never saw the end of the “map”, but I was able to play through a fairly large area before getting stuck. So it goes without saying that this proof of concept demo shows a very capable system of dynamically creating a WHOLE LOT of content from such an amazingly small package. It would be pretty interesting to see what would happen if someone were to create a full sized, fully developed and highly polished game using this technique.
