@acefondu: It's part of some kind of "collection" Square Enix decided to come out with, which is the "Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation: (I had to Google that name since I completely forgot what it was lol). Although each main game of this collection is based in different worlds with different characters, they will all ultimately be based around a common theme, which is some kind of "special crystal", if I recall correctly. These crystals are integral to each game's world, and I think I remember hearing Square based the design of look of each game's world on their specific crystal or something.
All I know is that Square Enix is making it that "XIII" isn't just one standalone game, but a compilation of many titles revolving around the same theme. So far, there's four titles in this compilation that we know of: Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and Final Fantasy Agito XIII (Type-0).
Square Enix still has long plans for XIII, saying that this compilation alone could span a decade. This is just speculation, but I think Square might want a core Final Fantasy to end at the number 13 (FFXIV doesn't count 'cause it's an MMO). I heard about this rumour a long time ago, even when FFXI was in its infant stages of development.
Why does he look like that...? He looks...weird. Looks neither badass nor like someone that would be fun to play as in the DMC series. If this was a new IP entirely, then whatever, but DMC kinda made a style for itself with a character type like Dante. This new guy looks like a complete opposite of that character type. Tall, skinny, almost kinda emo-ish. He looks like someone from Twilight.
Instead of a reboot, couldn't they have just used Nero or something instead of this guy?
@831 Son: His name is Ezio Auditore. The "de Firenze" part just signifies what city he's from ("I'm Ezio of the Auditore family of the city of Firenze"). It's almost like an honorific, and was used quite commonly back then.
It's like saying, "Hi, I'm John Smith from New York City."
Or "Gimli, son of Gloin." That always stuck with me and use that example as often as I can lol
@CheesePirateAssassin: I personally don't mind Brotherhood. I wanted a multiplayer portion to Creed as I thought it'd be fun to run around a huge, open city with some friends performing co-op assassinations, and so did a lot of fans. Ubisoft put the idea out there that they are considering a multiplayer/co-op feature to the third game, and a lot of fans responded positively, so they went through with it. But instead, they are testing out the multiplayer with a familiar character first (Ezio) and not making it a full sequel to see how gamers react before they consider making it a solid feature in the third game.
That's all it is. It wasn't a random thing they just threw out there. They requested fan feedback on if they should or shouldn't do it, and they got a response. So now they are seeing if they can pull off multiplayer well enough to make it a staple feature without making it seem like something that was tacked onto the third game, possibly dragging it down. If this Assassin's Creed "2.5" doesn't pan out multiplayer-wise, they might just scrap the idea entirely for the third game and put all their focus on the single-player, or they might attempt to tidy it up based on fan feedback. That's what they did with AC2. Ubisoft listened to all the feedback from reviewers and fans about the first game, and tried to fix it up.
Is...is that a crossbow on his back?! Awesome. Been waiting to see that in action since that trailer from the first game lol Been waiting for this game (Brotherhood) since I first heard about Ubisoft thinking of adding multiplayer/co-op into a Creed game. Double assassinations? Reminds me of good ol' Tenchu fun.
Yeah, definitely. Although touchscreen is nice for a few things, I prefer a physical keypad to type stuff out. I can type fast enough on an iPhone, but never liked the idea of typing on a touchscreen. That's part of the reason why I got the Dream. It has a physical keypad as well as a touchscreen. And the Android OS is really nice. But for some reason, the Dream just didn't do it for me, so I got the 8900 and subsequently the 9700. Now I'm always using the phone, whether for BBM, MSN, or just looking up the score for a game that's playing. I'm probably gonna sell the Dream now and maybe get a more powerful Android-based phone. I want the Nexus One, but shelling out $550-ish for that seems a bit much lol
Although the trackball was nice to use and play around with, I didn't like how it would eventually stick after overuse, so the new trackpad is a godsend. But yeah, as someone that texts and uses Messenger a lot, the BlackBerry beats the iPhone or anything else for me hands down.
Yeah, I know what you mean lol Most of the smartphones I've been using lately were able to multitask rather easily. HTC's Dream wasn't especially powerful in the processor department, and yet it multitasked fine.
I have an iPhone (only a 3G), but I admit that it's not my favourite handheld. I got bored of it rather quickly really, after the initial awe of the apps wore out. I much prefer using the BlackBerry 9700. After I got that phone, I pretty much stopped using everything else lol BlackBerry phones are just capable of doing stuff that the iPhone can't do out of the box 'cause Apple doesn't like it. Ie. AutoText (best feature in a phone ever, in my opinion, 'cause I'm at texter lol) and the ability to tweak even the smallest things when it comes to alerts and sounds. For some reason, the iPhone can't do any of that straight out of the box, and after using a BlackBerry, the iPhone seems lacking in the most basic departments.
Gotta love the BlackBerry. Once I started using the 8900, I was hooked on the brand lol And upgrading to the 9700 for 3G just solidified what my primary phone would be. Forget the iPhone and Dream now lol There's a reason why people nickname is "CrackBerry" lol It's addicting.

Sep 15th 2010 11:30AM (Joystiq)My bad. Was typing as you gave the second reply lol It's not a problem at all. I misread what some people say, too lol
They really ought to stop Westernizing some of their properties, especially a franchise like DMC where it has such big fan support. Silly Capcom.

Sep 15th 2010 11:28AM (Joystiq)Yeah, I said "instead of a reboot". As in just continue Nero's story instead of introducing this new guy.
