Having played both games (Incubation and XCOM: UFO Defense (was called UFO: Enemy Unknown when I had it on the Amiga)) and enjoyed them both I would say it is highly likely. Where Incubation sends a squad into a designed map with a specific mission goal, XCOM has a global strategic map where you buy equipment and shoot down UFOs before going into tactical missions on a randomly generated map where the mission is to kill all of the aliens (or capture one/some equipment and run if you find yourself outmatched). I personally think XCOM is even better than Incubation (more replayability due to random maps), but may not have aged well (the PC version I picked up years ago was DOS, and whilst still great, suffered graphically) and will take some investment to learn properly (made before in game tutorials, better hit the very thick manual :) ).
I would have thought the sales increase would be larger than 40-60%, more likely doubling sales. I say 100-120%. If I'm right can I have Pachter's job?
I think a league system sounds fair (inspired by Byron), start with the regular/popular comics in one, and the others in another. If one is consistantly bottom/top (maybe 2/3 weeks in a row) respectively then it could be moved into the other group, then you'd be able to see which are more popular/unpopular over the long run. Taking it further, then you can ditch the bottom list, because it will be full of all the ones that people don't rate as highly. Just my two pence.
