Max Payne 3 will stay true to the 'core element of Max,' retain noir narrative style
Sep 23rd 2011 3:07PM (Joystiq)Still, what made Max Payne was the story, the cast, and the gritty film-noir metaphor laden narrative.
If they deliver that, I will be eternally grateful.
Gears of War 3 will have 'live' TV ads in the UK
Sep 21st 2011 1:31PM (Joystiq)Pretty much my first thought too...
Timed right, this could advertise Xbox Live being down. Turning off the 360 due to an outage, switching over to the TV only to moments later see that counter read zero would be hilarious.
Please let this happen, just the once.
Mommy Tummy and me: A Tokyo Game Show story
Sep 19th 2011 1:44PM (Joystiq)There appears to be a gap between the first and second paragraph where you detail just how you were approached to do this, and what degree of bribery took place.
You are a brave and noble man. But please, for the sake of the rest of us, can we keep this little invention quiet so that it can never be seen by respective girlfriends and partners?
Please, because I know if this is the counter-demand between me and all the new releases up until Christmas, I may have no other choice but to give up gaming entirely.
Yours Sincerely,
Mort

Aug 11th 2011 2:33PM (Joystiq)Heh... I can think of something else the size and shape of a mine that would blow someone up WITHOUT the need for an AC130 to be flying overhead.
Can anyone guess what that might be?
Resident Evil: Retribution brings back Alice, adds Barry and Leon
Aug 11th 2011 2:25PM (Joystiq)In the games you're a normal person, coming to terms with an unimaginable disaster that's sprinkled with conspiracy. The plot delivery relies on both not knowing what or why things have happened, nor knowing what is around the corner.
The majority of this has been lost in its transfer to the cinema screen in favour of an easier to understand and more marketable action/horror smoothie.
If I had written the scripts for a trilogy I'd likely have chosen three sets of characters and retold the same story of the Racoon City disaster from three viewpoints that collectively overlap to shed more light on the overall story. The action wouldn't be immaculately choreographed, it would be intense, reactive and believable. I'd take the opportunity to explore Racoon City as a a locale as it undergoes the transition from peaceful to wasteland.
There's been enough open-ended, non-conclusive/formulaic films these last few years. Franchises like this with an elaborate backstory are surely a prime opportunity to make use of this relatively new trend?

Aug 11th 2011 2:10PM (Joystiq)It hurts me more than last decades penchant for sticking in Z's where they didn't belong.

Aug 9th 2011 3:00PM (Joystiq)Aren't these a step backwards for a MW game?
Also how come in slow motion the flash is at the top, well above the head, but the explosion is still at ground level?
Whilst we're looking at it, how come the kill icon is a plane?
So many questions...

Aug 9th 2011 2:56PM (Joystiq)That hurts, I was an original COD and COD:UO tournament player.
Granted a few iterations on and it's barely recognisable, but there was an original AAA WW2 shooter at the beginning of all this remember!

On second thoughts, perhaps it's best to not say anything.
