Microsoft confirms Xbox dash video issues, is working on a fix

Jan 20th 2012 8:48PM (Joystiq)
Everyone has this problem whether they realize it or not.

If you want to find out, test a movie that has black bars on top and bottom, then play the video at your standard color settings and see if the black in the credits looks grey, or black as oppossed to the pure black bars on top and bottom.

Many of us submitted this issue in the Beta, but it was not addressed. I called in to microsoft as well as submitted my findings to eurogamer. I'm glad MS finally listed.

For those who are wondering, games are fine at their default setting, but videos in various apps such as the dashboard video, zune, netflix, videoplayer, etc. DVD is not affected as far as i can tell.

Hopefully the fix happens soon.

Once Upon a Monster's 'Unidentified Furry Objects' DLC lands on Xbox Live

Looks like the video of the DLC is free, not the add-on itself.

Splinter Cell HD Trilogy missing another feature: inverted aim

Sep 30th 2011 9:24AM (Joystiq)
Can't you turn on inverted aim in the console settings like you do for the xbox 360? An extra step but atleast it would work, i assume there is something similar for ps3.

Sony's Rob Dyer criticizes Microsoft's content policies

Sep 4th 2011 2:51PM (Joystiq)
These are just good business decisions to have policies In place to keep as much of the content equal. Sure devscan use blu ray apace on ps3. Xbox 360 justneeds the game on multiple discs on it's new DVD format if so.

@jozanovic

Yes its playable without kinect, but its really not the same game. I highly recommend playing it with kinect.

I agree with joystiq on this one, but here is the original article:

Rumor: Zune Marketplace revamped on Xbox 360 as streaming video service

@eat it

They all come with your gold subscription. So on top of that, they are all optional, you don't have to sign up for anything if you don't want to.

Rumor: Zune Marketplace revamped on Xbox 360 as streaming video service

The current player is the Zune HD and Windows Phones. I would love to see more selection than what netflix offers, or something that would complement it and make it worth having both.

This is great news as long as they keep their download option like they do with their music. Very interesting!

Dungeons and Dragons: Daggerdale review: Critical miss

May 26th 2011 8:35AM (Joystiq)
I WOULD....

encourage those interested in this genre of game to seek out other reviews and view their results as a whole. There are several reviewers out there that really enjoyed the game and gave it 80-90+ scores. Joystiq's mentions on the bugs and glitches might be correct, but the amount it would detract from a game could vary person to person.
