How much would you pay for the wireless keypad?

Aug 26th 2008 11:12AM (Joystiq Playstation)
$50 is not worth it at all, come on, this is an 'attachment'. just an extention to the dual shock 3.

having said that, it is a brilliant product. looks very nice, goes with the black design of the ps3.

it also looks like a product which would meet the needs and do what its designed to do. it doesnt look like it comprises any buttons, as the other picture shows that this attachment rests above the trigger buttons.

the neatest feature without doubt is the touchpad feature.

80GB Core model draws less energy than 40GB

Aug 26th 2008 11:04AM (Joystiq Playstation)
its not really suprising at all. the company's management look for every single possible way to cut down costs, and i would have thought internal hardware improvements would be the easiest way to tackle it.

the thing is, they would naturally continue doing this. so further down the line the will release a another console which uses a far more smaller and efficient chipset, produces less heat, uses less energy.

i use an original 60gb console, as this meets my needs the most. i do not have the space or the time to have a ps2 and ps3 together, so my ps3 plays all ps1, ps2 and ps3 games. i play alot of games on ps2 still, especially with the friends who still have ps2 e.g. gran turismo 4 (very competitive with my friends grr).

i do still personally feel that sony went about their hard drive section completely wrong. i would have liked to see ps3's come with a basic amount of storage as standard but their should have been a product line of official sony (internal) hard drives on the market. 80gb, 160gb, 320gb, 500gb etc. similar to psp and the memory stick duo, which worked very well.

upgrading is all about the right time. i will buy my next ps3 when a system with ps2 backwards compatibility comes out because my launch ps3, although i love it and think its billiant, is not efficient.

Get a chance into the Home beta with today's update

Aug 8th 2008 6:54AM (Joystiq Playstation)
i play alot on my ps3, at least 30-60 mins every day. usually when i wake up and just before i go to sleep.

although if my friends come i play much more.

having said that, im not usually connected to psn, only when i have to. i prefer playing with friends than multiplayer. that means my activity on psn is low, while activity on ps3 is high. looks like i wont be getting the update.

John Carmack says Blu-ray offers better graphics

Aug 2nd 2008 9:40AM (Joystiq Playstation)
gta4 was around almost 7gb for 360, and i believe the microsoft security restraint or something limits the games to about 7.5gb per disk.

its like a trent. the 700mb cds were enough for ps1s lifetime, 4.7gb dvd was enough for ps2 lifetime. and now 50gb blu ray disks will be enough for ps3. because of the increase in power and everything, you simply need more space.

the wii uses dvd, because its a last gen console.

makes you wonder, did rockstar north originally have this downloadable content built into the game. and only after being on microsofts payroll they decided not to.

one reason we havnt been seeing multiple xbox 360 disks so far is because they are planned at the beggining to be only on 1 disk. so what dvd xbox 360 has done is create limitations to both consoles, so far.

SCEA VP: PS3 native dev means better looking 360 games

Aug 1st 2008 7:43AM (Joystiq Playstation)
well maybe you should consider the statement 'rome wasnt built in a day'.

trial and error is the biggest part of development. you do 1 thing, and then the next time you do it, u learned from the experience and can do it better and faster.

gran turismo 4 is regarded has being one the best looking ps2 games. but in ps2's early life this game would be impossible. now this ps3 we have today is constantly being described as a bottomless pit. in 2-4 years time, they dont know exactly how good the graphics are going to get, its that good. whereas xbox 360 is litteraly pushing its limits even today, and they know exactly what its capable of.

SCEA VP: PS3 native dev means better looking 360 games

no doutb the ps3 has the better graphics. the 1st party ps3 titles without any doubt look better than 360, and will look much much better in the future.

what this shows is potentially all 3rd party games can have graphics like these.

the developers had xbox 360 for so many years now, it was easy to program for right at the beginning. yet the difficult to program ps3 is showing the right signs of differentiation.

i want to share a little story with you. all of my friends who had brought a launch 360 got rrod by now, exept for one. and i kept on telling him your on borrowed time mate, and YES after all these years he finally got it last week.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue update brings GTTV content drop

Jul 31st 2008 1:28PM (Joystiq Playstation)
people, what gt5:p has given is already so amazing. it is currently is the best looking racing game ever.

gran turismo has never had damage, yet it is a record breaking series - just check out the sales figures. the non damage didnt stop millions buying it.

i believe the purpose of gran turismo is to have a realistic experience, contruct those killer racing lines and find those precious extra milliseconds.

of course the biggest flaw in gran turismo has always been to nudge of anotha car and open up the corner for you. even with the penalty system, you can stil get away with a slight nudge and make the corner easier for yourself.

damage will not necesarily fix this completly. if they try to do it from a proper realistic viewpoint like how it happens in formula one. then wooh they have a massive job on their hands.

if you lot want damage and smooth online racing, then there are so mne more racing games out there which will fulfill your demands.

but me, i appreciate what polyphony have done so far. they have never failed to dissapoint, and i trust them to do things the right way.

remember theres always a price to pay for quality

PS3 Fanboy hands-on: Mega Man 9

Jul 24th 2008 6:47AM (Joystiq Playstation)
megaman 4 was the best in the series, no doutb.

however, i do hate to imagine the pixelation on a 52" 1080p hdtv lol.

doing this is great, because personaly i felt that the 2d mario games have always been better than the 3d ones.

what nintendo did the new super mario brothers for the ds was amazing, a perfect old style gameplay with new, fresh updated graphics. this combination of high(er) resolution characters and the old style gameplay was a very nice experience.

it would have been better if they took that route with megaman. just updated the character models and scenery. and come on, they should have the mega buster at least come on.

What is Sony's mystery E3 game?

Jul 22nd 2008 10:53PM (Joystiq Playstation)
"we could be on the brink of a step change in what games consoles are capable of in terms of story-telling and immersion."

that was said about mgs4, and in some ways it is true lol.

im not excited about this just yet because most of the time in this intresting world of ours, the realisation rarely matches the hype.

but sony playstation as a product does need this kind of hype.

after e3 05 it was litteraly fact that ps3 would win the console race hands down, surveys backed this up with consumers. and that was when the ps3 was the hottest (amungst the media anyway). obviosly that didnt turn out to be the case.

that is what hype can do.

but back to the article. it says they are on the brink of change of what is capable. you cannot write them of because the playstation 3 is the most powerful home console ever to be made, with its superior technology it is described as a bottomless pit by developors. and if thers a console which can push the limits of what is possible, surely they are using the right machine.

it is rather intresting what they can come up with because sony playstation is not really known for its originality. sonys talent has lied by taking someone elses idea but implenting it 1000x better than them.

Gran Turismo 5 'might not even roll out before 2010'

Jul 18th 2008 10:57AM (Joystiq Playstation)
the gran turismo games have been the most successfull series for the playstations.

prolouge is a great game, it has online and a wide selection of cars.

i was hoping that the update would include the nurbugring nordshelif because they have written the code and it is fully working.

i hope they make the top gear track soon, those of us living in the uk who watch top gear will understand the significance of this track ... espiecialy since gran turismo is such a realistic experience.

people are complaining about gt5s delay. come on people, who has not been expecting this, polophony have a history of fake deadlines.

but think, gran turismo is KNOWN for its difficulty (especially when trying to get all gold licenses) and it is also known for how big the games are. 100% completion in gran turismo games (bar the prolouges) is one of the big big gaming acheivemants.

so by looking at the history of the games, gt5 will probably be the biggest ps3 game.

on average, 2 gran turismo games come out for each playstation console. a little thought of gran turismo 6 and how good the graphics will look, dare to imagine?
