Sony's planning on a ten year lifespan for the PS3, but I GUARANTEE you that R&D is working like hell to get the next one out before MS with the plan being the devs will support both the PS3 and the new PS much like they still support the PS2 today. MS has learned a valuable lesson in hardware reliability and is look squarely at the 360's, Sony's, and Nintendo's strengths to intergrated them into the next gen console. I'm impressed as hell with the 360 despite it's shortcomings and I expect nothing short of amazing from the next console.
