Clone Wars Adventures launches open-world combat expansion

I saw the picture before reading the title and thought I could get that as a mount in SWTOR. I had the weirdest boner for a few seconds, and it was great.

Tales of Monkey Island Episode 1 free on iPhone for a limited time

I really tried to like Monkey Island when I bought it on Xbox Arcade. I never played it growing up so I imagine that a large portion of the appeal is nostalgia. So I won't be getting it, even for free.

Just had to let you know because I know you all care so much.

12 Days of Joyswag: Rocksmith, Epiphone guitar, and Astro A40 headphones

WHAT! I've wanted to give Rocksmith a shot forever. I've been a guitar player for 11 years (holy shit that's a lot longer than I thought) and KILL IT at rhythm games.

Plus the Epiphone SG would look great with my collection!

BioWare updates fans on staggered SWTOR launch

I wish they'd stop saying that all you had to do is pre-order.

I pre-ordered at the end of July and never noticed the small sentence in the gigantic email receipt that I received that said I had to enter a code into the SWTOR website. I only found out about that last week when I got sent an email on it. So instead of receiving early access as if I pre-ordered in July, I receive early access as if I preordered a few days ago.

Rough stuff. I'm on a few sick days for the first of the winter flu's and I could have used a bit of bounty hunting to make me feel better.

The path of the Dark Side: The Old Republic shows Sith Warrior progression

@pid They recently confirmed that your ship will have an Armor/Appearance bench where you can mix and match colors or have the computer do it for you. I don't think there are appearance inventory slots yet, but since that seems to be the general direction of most MMO's they will likely be implemented at some time.

Obviously we won't know 100% until launch, but I believe that there are a wide variety of armor sets. Like, a lot. I don't think you have to worry too much about everyone in your class looking the same. They've stated on multiple occasions that they want your character to look, feel, and play unique despite the general MMO constraints.

The skills trees are just like WoW or any other MMO's that have skill trees. You are given a maximum number of points and have to assign them to the skills that you want. You choose an advanced class and you get two skill trees + a shared skill tree. What's so hard to understand about that?

I think they're developing what could potentially be a great themepark MMO.

Let's face it, there are very few, if any, sandbox elements to the game. If you can accept that it's a themepark MMO you can see that they're on the right path to having a really fun game.

As far as making a "next-gen" MMO, well I think we have to wait for the "next-gen" PC or system to come out for that. That said, the ideas of every character having multiple companions, the implementation of crew skills, and being able to max level your character via solo class quests are pretty novel ideas that I am yet to see out there. They're really trying to make this game accessible to everyone from hardcore MMO players to casual MMO players and non-MMO players. I think the systems they've implemented in the game really tie in to this market strategy and, should the final product actually be reminiscent of all we're hearing now, it should be a great experience.

I've been reading up on TOR a lot in my downtime at work so I'm going to take a moment to try to clear up some common misconceptions I've been seeing on massively, joystiq, and the TOR forums.

-Crew skills are designed to lessen the load on the player character. That said, you don't HAVE to use them. You can go gather resources from nodes and craft on your own. You can even do both at the same time for maximum efficiency! Isnt that exciting!

-Space combat is 100% on rails. It'll give you some XP, Credits, and give you options to upgrade your ship. Whether these upgrades will complement the core TOR gameplay I have no idea. Many posters seem to be angry that this is not space combat like Jump to Lightspeed. Sorry folks, but JTL was a full fledged expansion that was released long after the game was launched. The SWG dev crew spent a long time and a lot of resources developing that expansion, because it was basically putting a game within a game. If you want realistic space combat, go play EVE, JTL, Freespace, X, etc..

- Many posters are getting concerned that their characters are cookie cutter builds and everyone will look and act the same throughout the game. There are skill progression trees and loot tables for a reason, guys. The armor/skill progression videos are just meant to show examples of what you can become within a particular class. You can always pick up different armor or choose different skills as you level. I really don't understand why people can't seem to grasp this.

- As stated above, Bioware is designing the game to be accessible to a wide range of users. To do this they have made each class extremely versatile, giving most the opportunity to heal, tank, DPS, or hybridize their skill selections. I've seen a number of people complain that it's ruining their immersion or they're upset that their Jedi Consular may be able to be out-healed by a another well-spec'd class. If this is your opinion then go play WoW or one of the other countless MMO's who solely rely on the "Trinity" class model. I, for one, am excited to play classes that do not artificially constrain your choice of abilities due to class name. If my bounty hunter wants to heal and shoot rockets from his jetpack at the same time then that's awesome and I'm not going to complain.

/end rant.
