Uncharted 2 exceeding sales expectations, DLC coming 'before the end' of 2009

Oct 25th 2009 2:49PM (Joystiq)
The concept of DLC is fab. Eventually, outside of collector's willing to pay a premium for box art, DLC is cheaper and more convenient.

Take-Two working with Project Natal, PlayStation Motion Controller devkits

I'm excited about this new controller. I believe these new types of controllers can improve the level of interactivity of a gaming experience and kick up the immersion factor for some people.

L.A. Noire still coming, 'innovative' says Take-Two boss

Sep 1st 2009 10:05PM (Joystiq)
Yes,
I realize that, but the comment wasn't made regarding the genre in isolation. Innovation is an accumulation of incremental facts and experiences which create an overall which deviates substantially enough from the norm to demand attention.

I was merely referring to the fact that it is a bit different from the run of the mill Halo/GoW Michael Bay masterpiece.

Silent Hill character designer working on Tale of Tales' Fatale

I am always excited to see new and artistic games hit the market. Gaming is slowly evolving into the story-telling mechanism for our century.

ESRB rates Oddworld, Blood Omen and others for PSN

Sep 1st 2009 9:08PM (Joystiq)
I find the ESRB to be an antiquated concept. The Net generation can get their hands on anything, so stop restricting the creative freedom and tying the hands of the developers to please some agitated soccer mom. ESRB is like the war on drugs, it makes people feel good.

L.A. Noire still coming, 'innovative' says Take-Two boss

Sep 1st 2009 9:00PM (Joystiq)
I think I will attempt to end this flame war by commenting on the innovative direction Take-Two is taking this game. I assume it will probably be a murder/mystery type setting a la filme noire.

Harmonix and EA want Rock Band at your bar

Geist,
I agree. However, you miss 100% of the shots that you don't take. I applaud efforts at bringing a gaming experience to more casual environments. Steps like these are opening up the possibilities and allowing technology to move further away from the couch and my computer chair!

Batman: Arkham Asylum glides to top spot in UK

Content exclusivity will always make a difference considering the major factor driving console sales will be the software. Afterall, that's why we're buying!

With upgraded firmware and a new platform update (Slim), it will be interesting to see how the console wars shake out over the next 12 months.

Sony and Nintendo increasing effort in fight against piracy

Good point, I guess that is the give and take. Some people can't pay for games, so the overall "usefulness" of these devices deteriorates.

Blizzard interview: Leo Boyarsky and Kevin Martens on Diablo 3

Aug 31st 2009 9:45PM (Joystiq)
I look forward to the release of D3, the classic elements seem to be present, but Blizzard, in classic fashion, is integrating key components that have involved in gaming to create an overall experience which pays homage to the original game play while simultaneously building new and interesting experiences.
