I think people need to put these games into context, you have to realize that smart phones are a fledgling platform and we are witnessing what is the very beginning of a much larger trend in gaming. Overall, the control and mechanics of most mobile games are still to be desired, but this is in relation to the console and/or PC, where gaming has been explicitly intended and/or incubated since the early 80's. The main point is that I can find substantitive entertainment from a smart device that has multiple functions, a definite increase in overall (un)productivity would've ye say?
I understand the need for organizations to try to attempt to protect their intellectual property, but you also have to look at the opportunity cost of not allowing a third-party development community to flourish and build out applications that enrich the experience and utility of using the devices.
