Nooooooooo! I really enjoyed these!

Where 'Final Fantasy' and Comics Collide

Mar 22nd 2010 10:54AM (ComicsAlliance)
Thad,

The "Final" historically came from the fact that each story/world/mythology was the "final/one and only" story within that created world. There are a number of elements that persisted over the games such as "Chocobo" birds, airships, and the "Cid" character. However, this all changed with "Final Fantasy X" (when they released the first sequel, "Final Fantasy X-2"). Since then, Square-Enix has revisited a few other of their previous worlds, expanding on stories, etc.

Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening announced, dated March 16

Jan 6th 2010 11:07AM (Joystiq)
I just can't say enough good things about this game. Some people don't like listening to all the back stories and delving into the characters (which I seem to spend a good bit of time on) but I am having a blast and I can't wait for this expansion. I'm still working my way through it for my first time (Human: Mage: Magi) but it's really great fun! I think I'm in love with Shale. He just cracks me up!

Leaked PS3 XMB images hint at Facebook integration, new image layout

Nov 11th 2009 9:06PM (Engadget)
I think the device navigation needs to be taken into account whether or not it needs it's own "X" application. I for one do not have a mouse and keyboard hooked up to my PS3 so I say "yeah, I'd love to have an application for Facebook". The iPhone also has a web browser, but it has its own FB app. Get over yourself.

Thor and Captain America games due in 2011

Nov 3rd 2009 10:27AM (Joystiq)
I just hope that they find good writers and learn from the success of "Batman: Arkham Asylum" (which I have in my gaming queue). As long as the controls are tight for Captain America (he's mostly hand to hand and shield stunts) and the story is compelling, I'm in. Thor never was a favorite of mine, but if done like God of War stuff then it could be interesting.

Netflix details PS3 disc distribution for November, 'confident' it'll have ample supply

Oct 28th 2009 10:15AM (Joystiq)
I've had very good experience streaming Netflix here in Atlanta, GA. I do not experience any buffering issues (or at least I haven't had any memorable issues) and have watched probably about 50 movies. They don't have EVERY movie, but I have enjoyed Heroes in HD and a number of indie or classic 80s movies :)

Netflix is coming to the PS3 [update]

Dude, quit trying to flame bait. *eyeroll* Now...perhaps Sony is doing some "copy catting" as you say, but in my eyes that's not necessarily a bad thing. I really believe that the PS3 hardware is by far superior to anything out there thus far. That's just my "non-computer engineer person" opinion just from what I have seen in regards to the hardware differences of the Wii,PS3, and XBox360.

Sony has been a leader in many aspects that have been touched upon before. PS Home is an interesting attempt at leading...I don't think they have anything similar on XBox360. But as far as "copy catting", I'm pretty sure the guys at Sony wanted Netflix streaming but were not willing to ante up for exclusivity (which apparently seems to have been a smart move because PS3 is still getting it). With the new PS3 "wands" that have similar feel to the Wiimote but operate differently, I say "Why not?" It allows Sony to take advantage of existing Wii game ports (I know there is a lot of crapware) and capture some of the "casual gaming" market that is not Sony's bread-and-butter but would be nice for them to have.

Rumor: Best Buy beginning 'buy 2, get 3rd game free' sale Sunday, Oct. 25

Oct 22nd 2009 3:17PM (Joystiq)
Yeah, I did the TRU, wanted Infamous and Batman: Arkam but ended up with Uncharted 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, and Prototype. I don't feel bad about the purchase but would have rather had Infamous or Batman.

How would you change Microsoft's Zune HD?

PSP Go launch inspires three-fold sales increase for platform

To those complaining of not being able to loan/lend/etc. This same kind of marketing/DRM is applied to your iTunes purchases and your Kindle/eBook purchases. Steam purchases are an interesting way to manage my media. I can install it in as many places I want, I just have to log in to use it. It does provide me with some freedom of not having to keep up with the media. If you are complaining about Sony's "download only" options because they are restrictive on how you can use it, yet you allow yourself to be chained to your iTunes, then kindly bow OUT of this conversation because you are a hypocrite.

Now, as far as reselling it, well here's where I am of two minds. One, if a game is GOOD I want it to succeed so I get a sequel. Resellers are cutting out the profit for the developers. This is good for you, because money is tight, but bad for them. I generally avoid pre-owned games so that I can support the developers. Granted, I usually wait for a sale, but it is still new media.

The Go is a great piece of hardware and I would be very interested in it, but its price point is too high right now. $200 or less and I would consider it since they will be making greater profit on the games (in general).
