"Shame on you Epic for not testing with 4:3 LCDs :)" I see no reason at all to put a smiley behind that at all.
The 4:3 bug doesn't affect me most of the time, 'cuase I use a 16:9 32" HDTV at home, but I use a 19" 4:3 TFT at work sometimes to play 360 during my break.
The issure still stands, though...I think it's a shame how 4:3 owners get treated by MS and the developers. I know that the 4:3 bug in Gears is not MS's fault, but they are still to blame for not including 4:3 support/testimg into their certification process.
I think a lot of people use their 360 on their 4:3 computer screens with the VGA cabele 'cause they can't or don't want to afford a HDTV but want to run the games in high res.
The 4:3 ratio bug has been known since PGR 3, a launch title, almost one year old and should not happen today, after other games suffered from it (Tomb Raider, for example), and it should definitely not happen in Gears, a game that's supposed to show of the 360s capabilities (which it still does, no doubt about it) and is supposed to be THE killer app and system seller. That's just weak. Honestly. How can't anybody think about testing the game on VGA screens using the VGA cable?
I still love the game...imo it's one of the very best gaming experiences I've ever had and is by far the most beautiful video game I've EVER seen. But flaws as this strike me as unnecessary. Sorry for my raving.
I'm from Germany and yes, if you browse European/German forums, most guys there are foaming because of Sonys repeated rip offs.
Sure, the launch of the 360 wasn't relly simultaneous, but it was close enough to feel appreciated as a European gamer.
Sony on the other hand has a history of delaying European launches on short notice, so what Microsoft did with the 360 launch in Europe was werry well taken by at least the hardcore audience who's keeping track of the whole video games business.
Many voices arise now in forums that are really disapointed and plan to drop their PS3 preorders to get a Wii and/or a 360.
