Dual Format HTPC for the win! I started with an HD-A2 and loved it, but the writing's been on the wall for a while now, so I slapped together a sweet little HTPC. Just ordered a whole buncha HD-DVD's for $12 each, and plan on buying a bunch more as the fire sales hit. I have a couple Blu-Rays, and will get more, plus I have X264 in glorious 1080.

In my opinion the inferior format won, what with all the DRM, region codes, and ridiculous MSRPs. My hunch is it'll end up a niche format like laserdisc, but it won't matter to me. If content is released, my machine can play it. What format war?

Given that the MSRP on most of Sony's new DRMed, Region Coded, BD movies is $45.00, I'd say it's time
for the consumers (the same ones that have "chosen" Blu-Ray) to bend over and grab their ankles.....

A gangly unit that your universal remote won't control, because the PS3 was never designed the way
a piece of home theatre equiptment should be. Crap game system meets mediocre movie player...let's all line up for the DRM and Region coded fun!! By the way MSRP for new Sony BD's (Walk Hard and several other that street next week) is $45.00! They are out of their freaking minds if they think people are going to pay that....

I happy about these recent exclusivity moves. DRM is a good thing. Region Coding is a good thing. A single format that will remove confusing options (like importing) is a good thing. I honestly don't get why HD fanbois can't see that.

The only way I'd buy a serenity panel is if it actually showed the movie, Serenity.
