Sep 22nd 2006 8:44PM (Engadget HD)An explanation for random MacBook shutdowns?
Sep 7th 2006 5:50PM (TUAW.com)i power on the macbook, it will run for a few minutes and then shut down. then i press and hold the power button until the sleep light begins to flash quickly and release the power button. this holding down the button is the same process you use to update the firmware btw. after i do that, it will stay on just fine, even through restarts, until i completely shut it down again. i mean, i left it on for 6 days just to see, and no problem. however, it doesnt work unless i let it shut itself off once. i can't simply press and hold the button until the sleep light flashes every time, i have to do it everyother time... otherwise it simply shuts down. a note to anyone that is wondering, i did try the process where you remove the battery and hold the power button for 5 seconds. that didnt work for me. the process i described above is the only way i've been able to successfully get it to stay on. i did, however, just send it in to apple last week, so hopefully they get it dealt with soon.
