There was a Veyron and the 57C Atlantic this past Art Center Car Classic, sitting next to each other. I also tailed a blue and white Veyron for about 3 miles in San Diego on the 5 North a year ago.
Speaking as a former Marine, don't take what comes out of Navy Times too seriously. The **** Times are nearly the military equivalent of supermarket tabloids. There's a version published for multiple branches, Marine Times, Army Times, don't know about the Air Force or Coast Guard though. They'll put whatever on the cover to move issues. There's occasionally useful info in them, though, such as pay charts and etc you could get online anyways.
I don't remember where I read this, but BMW's vehicle designs are always on a revolutionary/evolution cycle. I don't know the 5 series that well, but take the 3 series as an example. E28 to E30, gentle changes something rather new with the e36. Take that and round and enlarge it a bit and you get the e46. Then comes the totally different e90. The f30 will most likely be an evolution from the e90.
So this, the f10 5er, is an evolution of the e60 5er.
I think most readers are missing the point with Dow Jones awarding BMW. They're not awarding their cars, but BMW the corporation itself and it's business practices.
Sustainability doesn't necessarily refer to MPG or CO2 output, but refers the the entire life cycle of the car and everything necessary to produce that car. Factors to consider would be the acquisition and processing of raw materials to how recyclable their cafeteria utensils. More releveant considerations would be how much energy is required to produce it's vehicles and how much energy will it take to get rid of or recycle the vehicle after it's usable life. Everything is considered.
With everything considered, Dow Jones & Company, a corporate information firm, would be a good authority to judge a corporation in its entirety.
