Mass Effect 2 teaser suggests grim fate of Shepard & co.

Feb 20th 2009 6:22PM (Joystiq)
I remember before Mass Effect 1 came out, it was coined to be a trilogy. So unless EA decided to scrap a third episode, I can't see them dying.

More importantly, when was the last time EA didn't milk a franchise dry?

O M G I just shat myself. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK IN THOSE ELEVATORS!!!

Today is officially the best day of 2009 so far! First I get my car back from the bodyshop, then I get my midterm grades back ( =D ) and now THIS!

On a lighter note, hopefully the load times will be even better than Mass Effect 1 (when installed on the HDD).

Xbox Live Gold subscription on sale at Amazon for $29.97

Jan 20th 2009 5:05AM (Engadget)
Dude, the argument about ads on Live is so weak.

First of all, give me one ad that you see on Live that is not related to content that they provide. Be it ads for latest movie releases, latest game DLCs or sponsored gamer pictures etc. At least they aren't trying to sell you OxyClean or a new car with their ads.

You fanboys can be so intolerable sometimes. You pay 10x a year as much for cable television which has 8 minutes of ads in every half an hour of show time. So why is this double standard acceptable?

Besides, do the ads on Live stop you during a game to show them like television does? NO. So please, elaborate on why you believe the ads are in any way intrusive???

On a more related note, this discount offer isn't available through Amazon Canada... boooo =(

Microsoft optimistic as Xbox 360 has record Euro month; Sony claims overall lead

You know, I was thinking, A PS3 price-cut at this point is really moot.

I mean IF they are doing it, it doesn't look like they will until after Christmas season. If there's anything that I have learned from my work, is January on-wards is a good time for incentives, but regardless, sales are TERRIBLE. In fact, I am seeing now, that a lot of the manufacturers that I deal with on a daily basis are beginning to shift their incentive programs and move them up to December as opposed to January because of the weak economy.

So if they are going to do a price-reduction anyways, why not do it before Christmas in order to curb some of the 360 sales while the getting is still good? In January, a price-drop or not, they will in no way be moving as many consoles as they would be in December...

To most people, the lower prices of the 360 is almost a no-brainer.

As for me, well I have kissed my PS3 days goodbye, after my 60GB PS3's Blu-ray drive died, two days out of warranty and they wanted to charge $180 to repair...

FINALLY sold it on eBay with 5 games and 3 Blu-rays for a cool price of $427.25. I'm still wondering why the bids went so high considering it was broken... hope the winner read carefully (it was in the title).

Microsoft working to fix NXE audio issues

Dec 3rd 2008 12:58AM (Joystiq)
Oh wow. Calm down with the shit talking. Maybe they did test it, and just maybe, MAYBE there are SO many combination of speakers and receivers out there that it would be next to impossible for them to test it all!

I play music on my 360 in 5.1 mode all the time and the bass redirects perfectly fine. Bass sounds crisp and it redirects the speaker audio to all 7 speakers if I use the reproduction mode (my system = Harman/Kardon 7.1 Surround).

Damn, you people are quick to blame anything and everything.

Samsung drops jaws with 40-inch 1080p OLED display

I knew I should have waited before I bought an LCD in February 2007... prices have come down sooo much since that it hurts me to walk into the home theater section of an electronic store. But, at the time, it seemed like it had to be done since my house got robbed and insurance had a time limit for how long they would reimburse us for the theft...

In any case, I ended up buying a 37'' Toshiba LCD for close to $1900 with tax and everything, and its not even 1080p, its 1080i/720p. Not that it would be very noticeable on that size of a screen... but now I'm seeing 40'' LCDs that are 1080p for like $899... Oh well, maybe I'll buy a new one next year and move that one to the bedroom.

What really puts salt in the wounds is going to my girlfriend's parents' house... they have a projector installed on their high ass ceiling that projects wide angle 1080p signal on a MASSIVE wall. I would say the image is probably 8 feet diagonal. I've always wondered how much he spent on that projector since it must have a REALLY high contrast ratio. They have huge bay windows on the other side of that room and you can still see the picture with zero glare.

Japanese hardware sales, Oct. 13 - Oct. 19: The Britening edition

Oct 27th 2008 2:24AM (Joystiq)
I know what you mean Chin.

One of the main reasons I bought the PS3 was to not have to purchase a stand-alone Bluray player. But clearly, that was too good to be true...

Besides, ur rite, the only decent versions of the PS3 were the 60 and 20GB ones. All the ones after are missing something or other.

LOL you know wat the irony of all this is? After praising MS in my last couple of posts, I just turned on my 360 to find that my Live Gold membership has expired. bahah

CURSES! Worlds are colliding!

Yeah it really blows. Mine is pretty much one day out of warranty and they want to charge me close to $180 to repair it? I called them on Thursday and told them to send it back to me un-repaired. It's not even the money that is the issue, its the slap in the face for adopting their console early.

The first time my 360 died, it was out of warranty for 5 months and it wasnt even due to the RROD. It was a read disc error because something was wrong with the drive on that one too, and MS waived the repair fee for that and just sent me a new one.

When the 2nd 360 Pro died cuz of RROD, they replaced it with an Elite for no charge.

Oh well, PS2 + 360 FTW! =D

Ontario police turn to Xbox Live to find missing CoD4 player

Okay, I don't know about u guys, but when I was 15, I had some sense of the world around me.

I mean, not to be an ass, but everyone is talking about this kid in the news and everything like he is so innocent but lets face it, 15 year olds are not that innocent. What is that? First year of high-school? Which makes it even sadder to throw a fit like that at that age, granted, the parents pretty much told the kid to leave; so he did, they got their wish.

Again, not to sound like an ass, but I find it hard to believe that he got caught up in some internet pedophilia scenario... at 15, I would have the sense to tell someone like that to fuck off me!
