Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock unveiled with trailer

Jun 4th 2010 11:16PM (Joystiq)
OmegaVader, you dropped an obscene, homophobic statement about a video game, then accused that video game of pandering to the pubescent crowd? Pot, meet kettle.

But you make a strong point. I'm so tired of pubescent kids annoying me with their love for Anthrax, Black Sabbath, The Cure, Def Leppard, Dire Straits, Foreigner, Jane's Addiction, Jethro Tull, Kiss, Megadeth, Metallica, Ozzy, Nine Inch Nails, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Slayer, and ZZ Top. I mean, those are all the favorite bands of youngsters these days.

Strong point indeed.

Personally, I like both franchises, and I never understood the vitriol directed at the GH games, while RB gets a free pass no matter what. (If Activision had announced Guitar Hero: Green Day, people would have rioted.) I'll probably buy both GH6 and RB3, and I'll surely enjoy them both, even though the genre is getting a little stale. As for GH6, what's the point of whining about the "plot" that's built in? If you don't want to fight the beast or whatever, just enjoy the quickplay and party modes. After all, you get 90 songs for 60 bucks. That's one-third the price of buying 90 songs as DLC. Granted, you're unlikely to enjoy all 90 songs, but come on. It's 90 songs for 60 bucks. Plus, isn't this one supposed to include "Modern Day Cowboy" by Tesla?

Now, I will voice one complaint. With all the Muse songs they could have chosen, they picked "Uprising"? There's barely any guitar in that song. Off the newest album, they should have picked "Unnatural Selection" or "MK Ultra."

@ wolk

You say of Muse, "It's as if someone waved money in front of them and said 'play this type of music'....oh wait, I might be on to something."

So, those money wavers wanted Muse to play 7-minute-long science fiction westerns with minimal lyrics and three-part rock symphonies about reaching into the vast universe?

Yup, you're TOTALLY on to something.

I'd take Brees out of that bunch, although it's a crying shame Chris Johnson isn't in the running (pun intended). He's the most exciting player in the NFL, by a long shot, but I suppose he's not a big enough star yet.

The article reads, "effectively dropping the price" to $14.99, nate. In that case, it obviously means the price is, in essence but not literally, $14.99. The article does not literally claim that the game costs $14.99, as you state.
