Blue Dragon moves some Xbox 360 hardware

Dec 11th 2006 11:51AM (Joystiq)
"Microsoft hopes to sell 200,000 copies of Blue Dragon in Japan"

Each Final Fantasy game sells more than 2,000,000 copies in Japan. Dragon Quest does slightly better.

200,000? good luck.

Microsoft to launch Xbox 360 in Brazil next month

"Games will cost $79 (R$169)"

About R$ 15 as a pirated disc, avaiable just around the corner. Piracy is rampant here and M$ is well aware it and even incentives it, after all, how would it get as many people using their software if they had to pay a small fortune for it?

That's why hardware is so pricey! It's not just taxes, it's a way to get some money off this shabby market by making secretive deals with "importers"...

sucks being a technohead in Brazil...

"we still have a soft spot for the Dreamcast."

Nintendo's new Zelda falls flat

It isn't the brown pallete i'm worried about: it's the lack of crispness when everyone else's graphics is hi-resolution. And the annoying haze to prevent popup. It's looking like a N64 game, with blurry textures and all. Except this is 2006/2007 and this is totally unacceptable.

Sony: Blu-Ray on PS3 has "nothing to do with movies"

Oct 18th 2006 9:36AM (Joystiq)
"Already, at our launch titles, we're getting up close to the 25GB limit that we have on our Blu-Ray discs this year"

BS. big time. i want a PS3 as anyone else, but Sony execs are really asses...

Laptop manufacturers may seek recall restitution from Sony

"perhaps we should take a second and remember the root-kit debacle"

yeah, and while we're at it we could also remember that M$ has a root-kit installed in almost every desktop computer in the world and is just as favorable to DRM measures as Sony or any other big industry player.

Good question: why doesn't the Xbox 360 have its own browser?

Oct 16th 2006 7:36AM (Joystiq)
Amos, IE7, like most M$ products, brings flashy interface changes and shallow upgrade in functionality. They are bringing cosmetic interface changes akin to Vista's Aero, Opera and Firefox tabs, RSS (even using Firefox-introduced RSS icon), and very little else.

CSS compatibility is nowhere near Firefox or Opera, nor Javascript DOM-compatibility (needed by AJAX apps). And does it have a nice javascript debugger like Mozilla's Venkman? What about extensions? Where's builtin SVG or XForms? nope.

i'd call it IE6.2, but nobody uses 2 points version schemes anymore...

"Adobe can't even be arsed updating their linux player, never mind building a new one completely form scratch for some strange multicore architecture the programmers have no experience with"

they just need to target the usual PowerPC core, like they have been doing for ages on the Macintosh port. why would a Flash plugin need to use the Cell Synergistic Processors anyway?

"Nintendo thought of Text Size problems, its called the ZOOM function"

Nintendo has nothing to do with such feature: it is a standard in any modern web browser.
