Metareview -- Sonic Unleashed (360 vs. Wii)

Nov 26th 2008 1:20AM (Joystiq)
Hey, Giroro:

"You misspelled asshole. Its asshole, not ass hole."

Someone who isn't aware of the difference between "it's" and "its" is really in no position to be anointing themselves spelling and grammar police.

Also, two spaces after a period, please. Thanks so much :)

Play all your PS1 games on your PSP ... through Remote Play

Dec 18th 2007 4:26PM (Joystiq Playstation)
This may be what finally tips me over the edge and gets me to buy a PSP. But first, I have a question for you that is somewhat related to this article:

If I download PS1 games to my PS3's HDD, can I transfer those games to a memory stick to play on the PSP? Yeah, probably a stupid question I know and I'm guessing the answer is 'yes.' But, I just need to hear it from people who know what they're talking about ;)

Sonic Riders: Zero Style

Aug 31st 2007 7:42PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I like Sonic, and I'll keep buying his games. Sure Shadow sucked hard...and Sonic 360/PS3 is absolutely atrocious. But Sonic and the Secret Rings is simply the best fun I've had on Wii...faint praise, I know, since the only alternatives seem to be Twilight Princess (which I played 10 years ago when it was called 'Ocarina of Time') and a bunch of minigame fests.

A lot of you will disagree, and that's fine. But I'll keep buying Sonic games as long as I see fit, thankyou very much. Meanwhile, those who hate them can exercise their right *not* to buy them. I care very, very little if the rest of the gaming world no longer cares for Sonic's outings. By and large, I still do. I don't take my instruction from bloggers, and I really wonder about the people who do.

Anyway, I'll say again that I can pretty much set my watch by JC Fletcher's anti-Sega (they're sellouts!) and anti-Sonic (omg sonic is teh sux0r olol!) rants. We've already had one post detailing the rather...sub-mediocrity of Sonic Riders' graphics. I guess we kinda need one every week from now until the game's release.

Scratchin' it: Xbox 360 class action lawsuit filed

Jul 10th 2007 5:02AM (Joystiq)
My 360 scratches discs. I've had it since last November, and since then I've gone through three copies of Call of Duty 3, 2 copies of Gears, and two copies of Crackdown. Test Drive Unlimited is close to death, and Rainbow Six Vegas currently works fine but also has plenty of damage.

For the benefit of the peanut gallery, I do not move my console while it is on or while it has a disc in it. And, I have experienced this problem with the console in both the horizontal and vertical positions.

Also, Microsoft refuse to repair it under warranty because it is 'impossible for an Xbox 360 to scratch discs.' The lady on the phone told me that I had moved the console, despite my insistence that I had not.

So good luck to these people.

A possible justification for Sonic RPG?

And here's today's anti-Sega (specifically, anti-Sonic) post by JC Fletcher.

Like clockwork, you are.

Wii Warm Up: Technical difficulties redux

My Wii won't play about 50% of my GCN games, yet they play perfectly in the Cube itself.

NiGHTS to be faithful to the original game

Apr 24th 2007 11:18AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
JC: Thanks for taking the time to respond to my comment. Sorry if I came off as unneccessarily sarcastic ;)

I'm still a huge Sega fan, though for the last year I've been wondering how much of that is nostalgia and how much of that is because I still respect the quality of their output.

Either way, nobody screamed louder than me on message boards about the successive fiascos of Shadow and Sonic 360, and I'm still offended at having to pay a fee to use the non-massive 'MMO' PSU online when I can play the significantly more massive Test Drive Unlimited for nothing (XBL subscription notwithstanding).

But on the other hand, it's not all bad news. Yakuza was fantastic, so was Sonic Rush. Virtua Tennis 3 was well received, and Sega Rally Revo is shaping up to be a winner. Sonic and the Secret Rings was absolutely not perfect, but it was respectable and a few dozen steps in the 'right' direction for the franchise. There's also Virtua Fighter 5 - a franchise which has been way ahead of its own game for the last 15 years.

But yeah, I agree with you that Alien Syndrome is a catastrophe waiting to happen...

NiGHTS to be faithful to the original game

You know what's funny?

In deriding Sega, JC Fletcher links to all posts tagged 'Sega' on the site - and you have to scroll down very far indeed to find anything negative there. That's how I like my irony.

A trio of Sega Genesis titles confirmed for VC

Mar 25th 2007 12:48AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Wonder Boy in Monster World is a fantastic side-scrolling RPG. I highly doubt that even 10% of the people decrying Sega for spamming VC with crap (like Nintendo themselves haven't been doing that) have even played it or have any understanding whatsoever of what it's about.
