@Swagman: Baloney. Super Mario Brothers for the NES has some of the most famous bugs of all time, including the infamous 'negative world' glitch. Another favorite of mine is ducking before you swim. The game thinks you are still ducked - you can't shoot fireballs, but the top half of the Mario sprite has no hit box and passes through objects and enemies. Doing this, it was possible to stick yourself into the notch over the exit pipe, get sucked into the wall, and be stuck until time ran out.
And SMB is hardly alone. Other games of that era were plagued with bugs too. But there was no internet for people to share knowledge of them once discovered.
