@Mabooza I've heard it was in development as DS game at first, but that is really just rumour and never got confirmed afaik. Still I can see it, but I can see even more why they would've switched over to release it for 3DS lauch. Considering it gave me an excuse to get the system AND I'm getting it for "free", I'm glad they did. Their sales will probably be better this way too without any marketing than if they released it for a lower price on the DS these days.
This is basically the reason I pre-ordered a 3DS after all. Amazon.co.uk has an offer that basically gives you this (or another of 5 games) for free. At least if you look at the 250 Euro price the 3DS has everywhere and you pay shipping. If you're in the free shipping countries you get an even better deal really.
Either way, I can't wait to play this. Since it's been in development for a long time already and has Julian Gollop behind it, I was having a good feeling that it wouldn't suck. So far all I've heard about it seems to point to that as well.
There goes any interest I might've had in it. I didn't like Tommy bitching all the time and that one dumb "emotional" twist and stuff in the original, but this is just moving into generic country and "cool 101" territory. I thought the parkour hype would've died down by now, but seems not.
@(Unverified) I know it's heavy on the physics, but it's certainly not a CPU problem. After my first graphics card change the game suddenly ran perfectly fine, even when I brought down big stuff. Then after doing a fresh install on the same hardware, it got stutters that were not fps or physics related. I'd get them in certain missions, before even bringing anything down the game would crawl. Or when I would drive a car it would suddenly halt in random intervals.
I've started to read forums and google up the problems when they hit me and what you find there, is an amazing amount of different "solutions" to the same problem. From changing some Windows compatiblity settings to the most ridiculous small changes that suddenly fixed the game for some people. Sadly nothing of those really worked for me and I stopped playing shortly before getting done with the game. Made me wish I postponed my reinstall just by a day to finish up the game in peace first.
Either way, not being able to play a game you really enjoy a lot and no solution to find makes you anything but eager to get a sequel. No matter how much they promise that things will be different now. So I'll wait and see.
I got Guerilla when it was on some really cheap sale and overall I love the game. That is when it runs ok. First it was no fun at all because it was stuttery and whatnot. Got a better graphics card and thought the speed increase was what fixed it. Apparently it was something else and after I did a fresh install some time later and wanted to wrap up the game, it ran like shit again. Slowdowns in certain missions regardless of what is on screen. Stutters that weren't fps related at all and regardless if you play in lowest detail and 640 or everything turned up and full HD. Still have to finish it. Maybe it'll magically work fine again some time.
So while I actually look forward to the next Red Faction game, I'll be watching closely what experience people have with it before I even start to think about buying it.
As if Tommy from the first game wasn't an annoying, whiny bastard who made me wish for a silent protagonist every single time he opened his damn mouth.
Oh boy am I glad I have to use the dpad instead of being able to tilt the controller. Not like I bought the Wii due to the controls and other games like bit.trip beat working wonders for the gameplay with the tilt.
