@DetlevCM why do you hear apple's products going bad? try selling the same number of walkmans or zunes than the ipods. It would be stupid if you didn't get HALF of the mishaps that ipods have, it's called error margin, if you sell 100 walkmans with a 2-3% margin then you'll more likely get perfect devices. sell 1000000 ipods with 0,5 - 1% error margin and WHOA you got yourself errors. even though you actually have better margins than the walkmans. i won't talk zune, as they had the y2k kind of bug a couple of years back.

@genesis of course, say whatever you want, buy don't do it anywhere near us, the people that really don't give a fuck about nazis. free spech doesn't mean you can say whatever you please, it means that you can express your thoughts to whoever wants to listen.

@i1patrick i'm pretty sure you haven't read the developers TOS. It says , somewhere, that apple can use screenshots of your apps to do whatever the fuck they want with them, be it advertising or using as an example.
/ i'm pretty sure those devs are downright pissed that their screenshots appear as an example of one of the possible adaptations on apple's pattent aplication /s

The bad thing about building a rig from ground zero is time. from your posts i can see you are a grown man, around 25-35 years old, that works. you know how this goes. you get home and the last thing you want to do is mantainance work on windows. you said it yourself, you use mac for freelance. its just a better workspace, like working on a 5yo table versus a ivory desk. macs mantain themselves overtime, and i'm sure, (from what i've read, you seem a graphics designer amirite?) that you current setup handles mid high graphics on recent games, so what? do you really want to count the hairs on a zombie'z eyebrow before using that missile launcher??? i think super high end graphics are seriously overrated. especially on a pc. if you really are an avid gamer, spend money once on a games console instead of buying a new graphics card every year just to play everything on max settings.

@TheCake you cant compare them. imacs arent even in the same category... its like saying: OH LOOK! y alienware m17x laptop is WAAAY better than that 10"netbook!!!!!111oneeleven!!!
anyway, only thing apple that compares to these are the mac pros, and considering they'll update soon, we can't talk either, it would be unfair to compare a 2+ year old system vs a new one, or are you gonna say your current setup is WAAAY better than one of those big, overpriced, underpowered old Antikythera mechanisms??? (hint: a mechanical 1900s computer used to calculate astronomical positions)

@SirNoDroin good luck getting to the pc store to buy the components, choose them, buy them, join them, troubleshoot the thing, install you windows/linux copy, look for the drivers, troubleshoot again, and then finally using it in under 10 hours. impossible if the store isn't on the other side of the street and supposing they have all the components you want.
