Freakonomics and Wii at Best Buy tomorrow

Apr 21st 2007 7:23PM (Joystiq)
@3:

Agreed. However remember - Joystiq absolutely loves and revels in anything anyone ever utters that is considered potentially new, no matter how patently stupid or empirically wrong it may be.

Perhaps I'll try to snag a headline. Hmm... I've got it: oxygen is actually a biproduct of the first Double Dragon arcade game. Before then, everyone breathed colorful bubbles.

I await my royalty check.

NY Governor Spitzer spitting mad about games

It's wonderful that while we're knee-deep in some of the worst corruption and human abuses America has likely ever seen our politicians still find time to lay blame at something, ANYTHING, other than a potential flaw in society.

Final Fantasy I & II remakes hit PSP late June & late July

Apr 18th 2007 12:02AM (Joystiq)
@35:

Well, I was speaking more about FFIV. In the first five minutes of the GBA gameplay alone I learned more about the main character's backgrounds than I had from 40 hours on the SNES.

However, I never meant to imply that FFVI's dialogue was poor - as far as I'm concerned it was revolutionary, especially considering the time. But I still appreciate the update on the GBA (however horribly choppy it is, which is inexcusable).

Final Fantasy I & II remakes hit PSP late June & late July

Apr 17th 2007 8:29PM (Joystiq)
Will Final Fantasy IV and VI ever be remade? Are those just the bastard children of the series?

Square got it right with the new dialogue on the GBA (which, by the way, is remarkable when compared to the SNES versions). But I can't think of a Final Fantasy game that would benefit more from a proper update than VI.

A little late. The viewership of Lost has substantially decreased this season.

Capcom Gamer's Day 2007 round-up

I saw absolutely amazing cosplay of Phoenix Wright and Edgeworth at SakuraCon about a week ago. I even took pictures.

Today's most changing video: Wii transform

Apr 13th 2007 3:38AM (Joystiq)
Rubang B:

Are you using a universal remote or a Wiimote? That might be the problem. Also, remember that the size of the Wii has a lot to do with how it works. Ensure that you've properly compacted the Gamecubes together tightly enough to match the size of a Wii. This may require some stomping.

As for that video, I actually believe that would make a fairly decent commercial. It would greatly appeal to long time gamers and intrigue newcomers.

Rumor: Perfect Dark prequel to get a new sequel

Apr 13th 2007 3:11AM (Joystiq)
Lemme know when Rare actually realizes what made Perfect Dark so revolutionary - the multiplayer.

Between Conker's, Perfect Dark, Mario Kart 64 and Super Smash Bros. multiplayer modes I was convinced Nintendo had actually managed to somehow recreate the closest thing to Nirvana mortals could achieve.

Over 400 hours clocked in multiplayer in PD and I still never made it past rank 8. How the hell did anyone get a rank 1?

You'll say WoW: BlizzCon back on for 2007

Apr 13th 2007 3:02AM (Joystiq)
Does anyone really believe that current-day Blizzard can actually pull off a faithful sequel to Starcraft?

Honestly, I'd be the first to jump on SC2 - Starcraft continues to be in my personal top 10 games of all time. But I'm also keenly aware that many of the original architects behind that gem are no longer with the company.

Gamasutra completes CRPG history series

The best part was getting Patrick Stewart to repeat "Lands of Lore" to the player's heart's content.

I miss old computer gaming.
