In the '80s, there was so much experimentation in game design because it was a new medium. My fondest memories are games like A Mind Forever Voyaging, and Ultima IV, where I had those moments of "Holy shit, I never thought of doing THAT in an interactive game!"

I don't get those moments as much these days. Mass Effect 3 looks to be a very competent iteration on a game that we all enjoyed, but I just can't get excited enough to spend $60 and invest dozens of hours in it right now. Maybe in a few months when there is a crazy sale.

The games that I get so excited for are Papa y Yo, and Journey, and The Witness. These are the titles where the designers are really thinking about how I can experience things in games that I haven't experienced before.

Damn. I guess someone had already trademarked MEDAL OF HONOR: GUNSHOOTER.

A quick check of Metacritic shows that Gameblog gave a PERFECT review score to both Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3.

How very Activision to act like a coward and a bully, to throw a tantrum because they don't exert absolute control over people who have been friendly and supportive in the past.

Kotick: OK guys, that's enough. We've got to save something for the third installment! Call marketing and tell them to get started on the box art.

... That's pretty smart. I'm sure a Black Ops 7 would sell very well, but I'm sure that Activision doesn't want to risk losing some of it's creative edge, or give the appearance that it's just milking the franchise for more money after the 6th installment.

Hmmm. By that logic, the XBox 720 should do much better saleswise in Japan than the US, because the XBox 360 is already "very popular" in the States.

Retail software is too expensive for this device. #gamchanger
