Take-Two signs in-game advertising deal

Dec 5th 2006 5:39PM (Joystiq)
If game developers and producers insist on forcing ingame advertising down our throats, I hope that they lower the cost of games. Advertising on TV and the radio is why it's 'free' to watch and listen to. Why on earth would I want to pay $60 for the opportunity to be bombarded with crappy product placement and lame advertisements for stuff I most likely don't want/need.

Sony Australia says nice things about Wii

Dec 5th 2006 4:38AM (Joystiq)
It's rare when a Sony rep shows some class and says something nice about a competitor. I think that Nic hit it on the button though. Gamers, for the most part, are educated consumers in terms of game systems and know what they want.

As to playing Cricket.....well. Neat?

Lost Planet grapples for position at consumer mecca

Dec 2nd 2006 3:00AM (Joystiq)
I enjoyed the beta, but it didn't necessarily ring any bells in terms of creative or groundbreaking gameplay. The story seems cool and new, however, and I enjoyed the grapple. I may not necessarily buy this game at launch, but I will definately add it to my collection at some point or another.

Train your own Nintendog plush

Nov 14th 2006 12:44AM (Joystiq)
iceats: Any tip? Other than buying her a dog? Get her a nice hamster.

Trainable nintendog plushes? Someone kill me now, this is even worse than those stupid little pocketpet handhelds that went on a keychain or animals you could 'own and train' on your desktop.

Consumers think PS3 should cost less; Sonyians more loyal than Nintendoites?

Nov 14th 2006 12:39AM (Joystiq)
Yeah it sucks dropping that much change on a console...but as was pointed out to me, has anyone priced a blu-ray player lately? You get what you pay for, and in all the Next-gen consoles, I feel that you're getting alot. That doesn't mean I'll rush out and buy all 3 consoles, however. My 360 and DS do me just fine.

Top 10 annoying things about next-gen consoles

Oct 10th 2006 10:32PM (Joystiq)
Good comments from everyone. It is true that the PS3 is being promoted as more than just a game console, but a media and living room. I don't know about anyone else, but when I look at a console to purchase I look at games, control etcetera. I don't buy a console to watch a movie or to browse the web, I want games. At first Assassin's Creed was the large weight on the balance that would decide if we buy a PS3, but the announcement that it's cross platform just blew that away.

I agree with the concept of the 'Wii60 Combo Platter'. Maybe I'll think about the PS3 in a year or so, but I won't hold my breath.

Microsoft to drop Xbox 360 price by $100?

Sep 29th 2006 5:42PM (Joystiq)
Why would Microsoft drop the price of the 360? Gamers that want the Xbox 360 graphics and games will pay the price for it when compared to the painfully expensive PS3. And, while I intend to enjoy the Wii60 combo platter, I still paid for 360 even though I knew the Wii would be cheaper.

And as previously stated, good old VP Moore stated there would be no price drop this fall.

Psychonauts picks up Steam in October

Sep 15th 2006 5:07PM (Joystiq)
Steam is a great utility. It's coming to the point where I never have to leave my ergonomically designed chair and face that entity known as 'The Sun' (its trying to kill me) to purchase my video games.

Woot!

Let's hope the other Advent games will be following soon.

Tsk tsk, IGN. Time to update that "internet use" policy! [update 1]

I think the call-out was well place. The guy got busted. Though, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Keep up the good work, Joystiq.

Castle Crashers: an XBLA original from The Behemoth

Sep 10th 2006 8:30PM (Joystiq)
I'm anticipating this game is going to be good. It's about time we had some new development going into the XBLA environment and available games that doesn't involve porting old games over from older consoles.
