Monster Hunter Tri-G boosts 3DS to best week ever in Japan
Dec 13th 2011 4:54PM (Joystiq)But what kind of person would assume Nintendo is doomed before the 3DS had it's first Holiday season or before Super Mario Land 3D or Super Mario Kart 3D or Monster Hunter Tri-G were released?

Editorial -- Nintendo's creeping doom: how the company came to misplace $926 million
Oct 30th 2011 11:24PM (Joystiq)from 2009 - 2010 Nintendo made 2.5billion, in 2010-2011 Nintendo made 1billion, wat until the end of 2011 before callng Nintendo "doomed"...
That's my point.
Editorial -- Nintendo's creeping doom: how the company came to misplace $926 million
Oct 28th 2011 8:09PM (Joystiq)The editor in this case is similar to the boy that cried wolf. He sees a big number, a big company losing money, and runs to be the first one to try and get everyone's attention. It's very unprofessional. He jumped the gun, shot from the hip, put the cart before the horse, etc...
The editor couldn't even wait until the END of the fiscal year when Nintendo can recoup some of their losses during the Christmas holiday period... you know, the FIRST ONE FOR 3DS... the one where Mario Brothers, Mario Kart, Monster Hunter will be coming out... It is extremely short-sighted of the editor to not wait until the final numbers are in.
To put it in perspective, when Sony launched PS3, they lost a lot of money. Does it make sense to wait for 1 quarter where Sony lost the most money and claim that Sony video game division is dead?
If the end of 2011 comes around and Nintendo still loses money, then you can claim they had a bad year... if they turn it around... this article serves what purpose?
Editorial -- Nintendo's creeping doom: how the company came to misplace $926 million
Oct 27th 2011 11:08PM (Joystiq)It's hard to argue with success... the Wii made Nintendo a lot of money, you can't argue with results...
With the wii, they didn't have HD graphics, they didn't have top specs, they didn't have top 3rd party support, but tell Nintendo what they did was wrong and they will laugh at your face while counting the billions they made.
This $1billion loss is a drop in the bucket, considering the console they have is at its last year (low sales), they released a NEW system that isn't selling extremely well (and even took the price down $80, to lose more profit), and only lost $1billion. How much did Sony and Microsoft lose when PS3 and Xbox360 came out? (Remember, they lost money on each console).
Also, Nintendo still has the FIRST holiday season coming for the 3DS. I can't believe how quick people are to disregard Nintendo... the 3DS hasn't even seen its first Christmas, and games like Monster Hunter 3, Mario Kart 7, and Super Mario Land haven't even been released yet.
Keep this article bookmarked, we'll see how things change from $1billion lost now until the end of fiscal year 2011 (March 31, 2012)... would be interesting to see if they end up with a profit...
Square-Enix announces end of Final Fantasy XIV's free play and roadmap for next year
Oct 15th 2011 11:01AM (Massively)Remember the key difference between WoW and FFXI (and FFXIV) with regards to alts, in WoW your character is only 1 class, in FFXI your character can be ALL classes.
Most people level an alt to try a different class, but you won't need that if your main can be all the classes you want to be.
Bethesda: Wii U Skyrim 'definitely a possibility'
