Is Nintendo the spin doctor of video games?

Nov 13th 2006 4:16PM (Joystiq)
"It had been absolutely sidelined as a console manufacturer in the past decade, by competitors with more money and a superior ability to deliver technically advanced machines."

Bull. Nintendo has always been able to deliver technically advanced machines. The Gamecube cost a lot less to make than the Xbox and produced competitive visuals. To me, that’s a more advanced machine. It's not like Nintendo couldn't figure out how to make the Wii export high def visuals. They chose not to.

Using next gens logic, I have a superior ability to produce a technically advanced machine compared to Nintendo because I built my computer with 2 gigs of Ram and a $400 graphics card. Why can't Nintendo keep up with me?

Worst worst games ever list ever

32 footsteps:
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters (NES)

There is no such game on the NES. Monster of Monsters however is totaly awesome.

Same goes for Jaws Unleashed and God of War. You have awful taste in video games. Sorry.

"Analog control has been tightened down for more precise movement. Push an analog stick ever so slightly in one direction and you have a slower speed."

Yes, this is brand new. Robert Workman is an idiot.

The PlayStation introduced a Dual Shock technology that would feature "rumble", where the controller would shake with certain functions in the game. Not to be outdone, Nintendo released an accessible "Rumble Pak" that got released with StarFox 64.

This is backwards.
Maybe 10 years from now GameDaily can post a story about how Nintendo didn't want to be outdone by Sony's motion sensing controller so they scrambled and came up with the wii-mote.

Sony says European gamers "don't mind" delays and later releases

Oct 6th 2006 11:57AM (Joystiq)
I agree with Sony on this one. Europeans are not really people.

Why should I be in danger of missing out on a console at launch so that Sony can make a pretense of delivering entertainment to a pseudo-population? Europeans will not be able to appreciate the PS3 on account of their lack of humanity. Sorry, Europe. I don’t mean to offend, but then again, are you capable of that emotion?

Wii graphically the low man on the totem pole [update 1]

He's just trying to make unreal 3 seem like a God engine that only the most powerful systems can run. That isn’t a good thing btw.
I don’t see why I can’t develop on U3 and then scale things like poly count and texture resolution for platforms like the Wii.

Joystiq hands-on: Coded Arms Assault (PS3)

Sep 22nd 2006 4:06PM (Joystiq)
"We're pretty sure we've seen GameCube titles use more horsepower, which is not a good sign for a PS3 game."

Since when did GameCube become the benchmark for crappy looking games. I seem to remember GameCube cross platform stuff usually looking better than PS2.

Anyway, give the Devs a break on this game. I'm sure everyone working on it is doing their very best. It's hard to have a game in various stages of completion and then have to show it to people.

Has American McGee earned the right to present anything?

Reading an Old Man Murray article about him doesn't mean you've played his games.

Anyone else who has their name in the credits for Doom, raise your hand. Nobody?

Has American McGee earned the right to present anything?

It's not ego-stroking. American was at EA when it was becoming a big deal to put an individuals name above a game title. American had nothing to do with it. Now he's stuck doing it because it's expected. It's not hurting you, so get over it.

Sam & Max on Wii? Telltale wants your help [update 1]

Sep 15th 2006 6:05PM (Joystiq)
Sam and Max was one of the best adventure games of all time. The genre is all but dead, so a new Sam and Max game is a great thing. If you don't know anything about Sam and Max, go to the telltale games website and read one of the comics.
