Ey, Kris? When was the last time you saw anything worthy of being called 'art' go out of its way to not step on anyone's toes?

Ubisoft pulls MindQuiz for offensive language

The only thing I have to say is 'FUCK you, Ubisoft'.

No, I'm serious. The last thing this industry needs - not just right now but ever - is self-censorship. If it gives in to all of this PC 'can't be violent or provocative or anything' thinking and does it to itself, we as a community lose, and the potential of video games becoming formally recognised as an art form is more or less permanently curtailed.

Japanese hardware sales, Jan. 29 - Feb. 4: award-winning edition

The amazing thing for me is that the DS Lite sold more units than all the other consoles -combined-.

And DS + PSP (We could add in the Micro, GBA and Phat but pour a water bottle into your nearest Pacific and see how much it rises) are well over 2:1 against the consoles.

I wonder if this is representative of a new view toward gaming, or just indicative of unreasonable console pricing.

SimCity DS footage to drool over

What's more interesting is that most of the text (except for the advisor - and that IS Will Wright, AFAICT) is in English.

Then again, if you've played SimCity 3000 (the clear source of this game) more than a few times in the past eight years you'll probably have no problem figuring things out in any case.

Still. EA. Seriously. Bring this home. We might grudgingly respect you again.
