Video game soundtracks on sale at Amazon MP3

Aug 3rd 2010 3:08PM (Joystiq)
@Punkrawk Bbob I'm thrilled by your knowledge of game composers...

....and outraged that you left out Yuzo Koshiro. Well, he's my favorite, anyway.

Video walkthrough: Destination Arcade

@Morning Toast seems like that's what they're doing with all these "portals". I think the simple answer is that they have to list it as a game if they offer any gamerscore OR avatar awards. Since this has 3 avatar awards associated with it, I guess they have to list it as a "game". Halo Waypoint is the same way.

Video walkthrough: Destination Arcade

Just a couple things.

1) That sand effect you did at the beginning on the list of games is done by clicking the left stick. I have no idea what purpose it serves other than aesthetics.

2) Using the right analog stick on the screen with sortable titles tilts and pivots the menu...again, useless. Think of when you tilt the screen in Smash Bros Brawl.

3) I have no clue how to unlock the dragon avatar bonus, but I did it. I was going through games and it just popped up on its own. Maybe a time release thing.

It's ok, I guess, but needs much improvement. There are so many things they have integrated into their NXE that they can use as an example. For instance, facebook will tell you how many people like a certain thing, and how many of your friends like it, even who those friends are. So I agree that you should be able to get the same data about games on XBLA.

Netflix does a really great job of approximating ratings for movies you haven't watched yet, based on feedback you provide on things you HAVE seen. That's with a database of movies that definitely surpasses the number of 360 titles. If they can do it for netflix, microsoft can do it for XBLA.

As for this being a beta...I'm not so sure. I mean, I'm sure this will rear its head in another form, but it's definitely not an official beta, at least not without a way for us to submit feedback to someone, somewhere. Just seems like a waste.

Destination Arcade only available during Summer of Arcade

@chex Yeah, I agree. From the previews I've seen, I'm guessing that they're just giving us a taste of it, and will probably put it back under wraps until Kinect comes out. That's my guess.

The shots of the interface look like it would benefit from that controller-less stuff.

Telltale surveying fans' favorite Back to the Future elements

Don't worry, I chose Huey Lewis and The News as one of the most important elements.

Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi submitted to Korean ratings board by Microsoft

You know, Sega...it really shouldn't be so hard for you guys to revamp some titles.

Jet Set Radio/Jet Grind Radio should have been pushed to XBLA ages ago, and Chu Chu Rocket?? No contest!

Also, Space Channel 5.

Moving back from that, the Saturn needs some lovin. I know it would take more work, but please, could you give us a nice revamp of Panzer Dragoon I or II? Maybe give us all 3 scenarios for Shining Force III? You know, since the US got screwed over?

Metareview: Blur

yeah, someone really got paid to throw Blur under the bus there.

"Wah it's hard. It's not fair" Mentioned almost no features, didn't comment on the powerups other than saying the AI uses it too much. It really just shows his inexperience with the game, since you can use powerups defensively.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in development since summer 2008

Apr 23rd 2010 4:39PM (Joystiq)
I dunno about minor enemies...too obscure.

Now, Sigma...I'd stand behind that.

I'd also like to see Wesker from the capcom side...screw chris redfield. Wesker with his crazy genetic enhancements = awesome.
What else what else...

Wang Tang would be nice. Powerstone got NO love in MvC2, so they should make up for that.

Marvel side? I actually always thought the Marvel roster was pretty good. Less Wolverines though.

Rhino wouldn't be bad, though. Or Sandman.

Blur trailer takes a lap around the world, pulls into the virtual garage

I dunno, considering there are less items to begin with, and the fact that you can dodge every power up, I wouldn't call them imbalanced.

Also, you don't get powerups based on position, since they're the same in each designated point. Sounds more balanced to me. No rubberband racing is a major plus in my book.

Drifting does royally suck, but I'm hoping it's just because I've been picking the wrong cars for certain terrain.

Super Street Fighter IV online lobby system, Avatar items detailed

Apr 20th 2010 1:51PM (Joystiq)
Yeah, when I heard about the avatar stuff, I would have settled for that as the extra content, even though that hardly qualifies. A video filter is not "content", even though it looks pretty cool. It's not going to keep me from spending the 40 bucks on SSFIV, but seriously...that's a bit lame.

I'm hoping there's more "exclusive content" than a graphics filter.
