We have a winner!!! If they had picked an obvious choice then people wouldn't care. They would agree and move on. However controversy gets you noticed. Expect more like this from print publications struggling to stay afloat in the internet age.
I'm screwed...I have no choice but to buy the game. I've got a wife that loves music and a little girl about that age that also loves music.
It better be at least half as good as Electroplankton. I enjoyed it and was thinking Wii Music would turn out to be a little like that. I'm a bit upset to hear all the negative buzz.
They are paying attention to you otherwise they wouldn't be showing off a game like this. It's just the current buzzword is expanding the market. It's expanding away from hardcore. The industry is not forgetting you, they are just excited that they have created a new area of reveneue and like talking about it.
"And boy, does the Wii's lineup ever reflect that!"
Yes, baby sea tuna, you're quite right.
However maybe I should have put that hardcore, elite gamers love to nitpick a game to death. I can already imagine the elite reviewer that gives Wii Sports Resort a low score because it doesn't have great graphics, DLC, or online multiplayer.
It's because the hardcore, elite gamers only make up less than 10% of the total gaming population. However, hardcore, elite gamers themselves think that they make up somewhere around 80% of the population.
Everytime something happens in the gaming world and you can't understand why, that is the explanation. A dollar from the elite spends just as well as a dollar from the casual, but there are so many more casual gamers. Oh, and the casual gamers aren't as picky.
I've gotten rid of these classifications a long time ago. There are 2 types of people. Gamers and non-gamers. Out of the gamers you have the ones that are happy whenever they find a game that they like to play. Then you have the type that think that they know how to make a game that's fun to play and all games must live up to their expectations to be considered good. Out of that last group you had the ones that knew, without a doubt, that Nintendo was doing the wrong thing with the Wii. If they aren't still in denial over the success of the Wii then they have accepted it and had to eat sour grapes and realize that the most successful system is not the one they decided to show their support for. If I was in that group I'd be crying foul too. However it wasn't Nintendo abandoning them so much as they abandoning Nintendo.
