PS3 Firmware 3.42 mandatory update available now

I laugh in the face of those who nerd-rage over other people being able to pirate games.

Final Fantasy XIV open beta starts tonight

Sep 2nd 2010 7:48PM (Joystiq)
This game blows.
There's no innovation - it's like every other MMORPG - the only difference is that it looks prettier and runs much worse (it's graphics don't warrant the lag).

I know it's a beta but first they delay it due to critical bugs, then it goes down for most of launch day because of bugs o_O.

Rebranding is in order methinks - Fail Fantasy XIV.

PlayStation Plus subscribers get access to fantastic ... protection plan discount

@KobaltKode The Playstation 3 browser is a joke anyway. I was hoping it'd come in handy for showing my mates YouTube videos in the lounge but it wouldn't even do that without screwing up.

PlayStation Move bundles announced, starter kit under $100

Mar 10th 2010 7:39PM (Joystiq)
I can't say I'm that excited tbh. It's not proper motion sensing. After how crappy motion sensing was on Eyepet I'm avoiding this at all costs...

Also, $100? Eyepet+PSeye retails for like $37 USD equivalent here... you're paying $64 for a glowing stick now? Sorry if I missed something.

Still, should have had vsync to make sure this didn't happen.

The Ubisoft forums had plenty of complaints about screen-tearing/FPS problems, there's like a 7-page thread on it.

In theory it should be the same on every PS3, right? I mean, same hardware, same game, etc. Friend suggested it could have something to do with TVs running at different update frequencies tho.

Oh yes, and I know this is semi-irrelevant to the article.

Assassin's Creed 2 is an amazing game, but the PS3 version is a screen-tear and frame-rate mess. I sent my copy back to Amazon. Did complete it first mind you, so I can't complain, but it was miserable to play with everything getting choppier the longer I played in one session.

I sent my copy back for a refund. The PS3 version is a screen-tear mess.
