Nintendo Wii marketing to exceed $200 million

Nov 13th 2006 6:08AM (Joystiq)
I don't need ads, they've already sold one to me, but I think general people should know about it.

The key to the Wii is interaction, that's why it's special. They need to use that money and setup a way for non-gamer people to play with it, not just see videos.

That's where the un-tapped money is, where they should concentrate. Look what the 'Touch Generation' games have done for DS.

My MOTHER bought a DS (without me even showing it to her) and owns a huge collection of those games... and she bought them for herself. She plays it everyday and it blows my mind. I don't how, but Nintendo may pull it off.

Nintendo's new Zelda most certainly doesn't fall flat

Nov 12th 2006 1:32AM (Joystiq)
Unfortunately I commented in the previous post, so now I need to give you a post to make up for it.

Don't really have anything to comment about except 'Thank-You'

Cheers, the absolute DRAMA of the video game industry.

Nintendo's new Zelda falls flat

Nov 12th 2006 12:22AM (Joystiq)
Your comments: You mean I have to PRESS BUTTONS to read a sign? That sucks! You mean
Zelda is a modded GameCube game? I didn't know that! You mean it's
not graphically comparable to a next-gen title? I suppose they should
have delayed it for two more years and update the graphics. Get lost.

I hope this is a joke.

Virtual Console's N64 titles don't rumble

I thought the Wiimote could attach onto the back of the virtual console controller... which has rumble.

Red Steel TV spot aired, for the kids

Nov 9th 2006 1:29AM (Joystiq)
I like this ad, same with all of Ubisofts marketing recently. The bunnies for Raving Rabbids are the shit, and the Pai Mai like guy for Red Steel is great as well.

Tells me more about the product and is more entertaining than those totally random PS3 commercials...

*PS3 commercial*
Paste random product over PS3, nothing has changed. It's still just as stupid.

We wait for Wii/PS3 at Toys R Us (Boston Edition: Part 1)

Oct 29th 2006 7:15AM (Joystiq)
I just realized how hilarious it is that these people are waiting out of a pre-order and the time gets set back an hour.

Pure torment... *silence* ... I guess it's only funny if you have a pre-order already.

PS3's Genji uses HDD to quarter load times

Oct 21st 2006 12:49PM (Joystiq)
Dang it, I knew this was going to happen sometime in the game console world. All is lost all is lost!

Remember those old PC games where you could actually run the game off the CD? This is like that. First we start off running the game off a disk, then we get the option to install it to a hard drive for faster load times. Next step: Install the entire game to the hard drive and offcially label it 'PC'.

Soon they'll be adding disk keys and 300MB patches that you have to download day 1.

How important is storage capacity for today's games?

*starts to speak* ... Oh, killploki (#2) just summed it up right there.

Battlefield 2142 employ spies in your PC [update 1]

Oct 17th 2006 3:43PM (Joystiq)
Ok. I was considering picking up this game but I object to this so much it's pushed me not to do it.

Yeah, I don't get it. If I PAY full price for a game I shouldn't have to have ads and a potential security risk. They don't even have to maintain the game servers, most of them are run of consumers PCs.

The terrible thing is that I KNOW someone will create a patch or figure out a way to get rid of them, but EA will just keep patching over it or prevent somehow.

Sadly, I think people are going to buy this anyways and me boycotting it won't have much of an effect.

EA charging gamers to access unlockable content

Oct 16th 2006 8:56PM (Joystiq)
Well, as much as I don't like this idea (because it has implications like the slippery slope that's been mention above) I guess it's OK. But only if there's ALWAYS a way to unlock it via actually earning it. There should also be an indicator that shows if you've earned or bought the extras or not.
