I think that few people realize that nothing is free. Yes it may be free for you, but that usually means someone else is paying for it. This usually happens via ads, or by taking a hit via discounts/promotions.

Gold is inflated because of the Federal Reserve devaluing the dollar. I know gold is not an investment-it's asset protection, and most people have 10-15% of their portfolios in gold or other commodities. Example: I buy gold at $1000 an once and the dollar weakens again making gold rise to $1500. It may look like I've made money, but I haven't. The dollar is simply worth && less. So the $1000 I bought in at is protected against inflation. In other words, I could use my $1000(once) to trade for another one at $1500(once) without spending another $500. Of course the reverse could also happen, taking a loss from deflation, but with the way the market is looking, I doubt it.

I think most people are going to be spending their rebates on needs; food, gas, shelter. If it were me, I'd buy some gold, silver, or emergency supplies.
