Gaze upon the 3DS circle pad attachment

Sep 7th 2011 9:59AM (Joystiq)
Does anyone know if this is an official Nintendo accessory? It's possible a third party created this abomination because Capcom insisted on it. In any case, until we know for sure, there's no point in assuming Nintendo made this thing themselves.

If they did, though, I'm sad... very sad.

Batman: Arkham Asylum creator focused on quality over quantity, hasn't played BioShock

"'...environment as a character' motif hearken back to 2007's Bioshock"... Come on, I know you referred to Metroid as an inspiration to the creator, but Bioshock is hardly the first game to build such great in-game atmosphere and backstory by making parts of the environment scan-able and offering different vision modes to enhance combat and exploration!

Overheard@E3: Kudos to Kudo's Wii burn

I gotta say, this seems pretty cool, but that's not a burn on Nintendo so much as on third parties that don't make good use of the Wiimote.

It's also hard to see if this will take off like the Wii - Nintendo grabbed the 'casual' market not with motion controls, but with a low price point, a packed-in game that everybody loves and, most importantly, a controller that was both simple and familiar (i.e. tv remote).

As a 360 owner, I'm intrigued to try Natal out, but as an overall gamer, I doubt this will steal much of Wii's thunder.

Metroid Prime's new play controls demonstrated in Japanese ads

Yeah, this one is in 16:9 widescreen, as well as progressive scan (which it also had on the Gamecube).

Wow I hope you're right! I'd much rather have beam switching... And to answer someone else's question up above, the game is definitely running in 16:9 (widescreen) and progressive scan (which MP1 & 2 did on the 'Cube as well).

Only one thing bothered me about MP3 - stacking weapons. In Prime 1 & 2, you were required to switch guns during battles and other situations, which was a key element of the gameplay. But without a c-stick to use for gun switching, MP3 resorted to 'stacking' the weapon upgrades, so your power beam would automatically also become a wave beam as well, etc.

If weapon stacking is applied to Prime 1 & 2, I fear some of the gameplay will be altered for the worse, but it's hard to say without trying them out.

I guess I'll have to wait and see...
